Although popular nowadays as a singer and songwriter, Leonard Cohen started his career as a poet and a novel author and he still continues to write. His songs are actually poetry turned into music.

Cohen is a member of the Canadian music hall of fame and the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

His first published book was Let us compare Mythologies (poetry), and it wasn't until the 1960s that he issued his two novels: Beautiful losers and The favorite Game. The rest of his literary works are poetry. All of them are of great quality and beauty, since Cohen is known for taking years to work on his poetry before it is published.
