I first read her book The Westing Game in 6th grade.  Me and another kid (who's also in my Honors Class if he can remember this) wanted to read the book, but only one of us was allowed--it turned out to be me.  As I began to read it, I adjusted to the mode of the story, a humorous mystery story about a man named Sam Westing, who died and left the mystery of his death up to a variety of different people.  It's a really good story (they even made it into a movie) overall.  I then read the book again in 8th grade and got it for Christmas.  Ellen Raskin is a very wonderful author who had a creative mind like no other.
