I like cozy, funny mysteries like Donna Andrews and paranormal, cozy, funny mysteries like Shirley Damsgaard. I enjoy all kinds of romance - paranormal, historical, funny, contemporary - just nothing too depressing. I love magical realism like just about anything by Gunter Grass and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I enjoy good shoujo manga like Boys... more »

Hi Miranda :) Thanks for the invite. I'm a little bit all over the place but it does seem we like the same things. Love it when I find another girl that enjoy manga. I only dabble in it, but hey, why ignore a good story just because its a comic? Vampire Knight is my favorite. If you're doing any Christmas reading I MUST ABSOLUTELY recommend Wolfsbane and Mistletoe. It's not romance tho. It's edgy, trippy, completely insane and original, nothing warm and cozy about it. Off the wall and the hook is maybe the best description I could give.

I haven't seen more than two version of Jane Eyre. It is nice to see many interpretations- they all bring something new to the story. Everyone sees something different- makes it interesting.

I liked Evermore, but it wasn't my favorite, though when I encountered the characters after that book, I liked them more. Oh, and Stay the Night is about Locksley. :-)

I have read all the Betsy Taylor books. They are quippy and mostly conversation. The last two books have taken a turn, but Besty needed to develop, so it made sense. MJD is from MN (as am I), so it's kind of funny to read books where the Vampire Queen lives in St. Paul. ;-) They are easy reads- like a paranormal palate cleanser. Her Fred the Mermaid series is cute, too. Nothing earth-shattering, but fun.

I finally, finally got the latest Night Huntress novel. My library just got it in last month! Uh, what took so long? I have had to avoid so many spoilers!

Have you read the Madelyn Alt books also? Oh, a cozy paranormal mystery I read a few months ago was also pretty good was Secondhand Spirits by Julie Blackwell (I think). If you haven't read that, you might like it.

I've liked Victoria Laurie because it wasn't all about the sex... and I get bored with that in a lot of the paranormal books. I can appreciate a good sex scene but sometimes I think they are thrown in it hopes to make better sells or something and it cheapens the whole book for me. I also don't like wimpy women, which is sort of what I was expecting from the Annette Blair book and why I was surprised. Instead I found it rather entertaining and light. I'll have to look into the other two you recommend by her...when I get my TBR pile down. Oh so many books to read and not enough time.

I've heard so many good things about the Demonica series by Ione that I thought I would get on the band wagon and read it. So far I am liking it.

I haven't heard of the mage series. Is it good? How many books are in the series so far?

Have you read any of her mysteries? I thought I saw some the other day in the bookstore but I was looking for something else so I didn't pick them up?

    Have you read Victoria Laurie?

I've read most of the series you mentioned - Dark- Hunter (I have the Acheron symbol tattooed on my back), the Feehan series, the Anita Blake and BDB books. I just haven't read the Viginia Kantra books yet, how are they?

Oh, ok. So, I'll be reading "The Accidental Vampire" for my next Argeneau book. I like them when they are fun. I typically prefer a book that makes me chuckle instead of cry. Ya know? Have you read the Rogue Hunter books yet? I thought those were gonna be about the Notte boys, but so far.....no! I haven't read one yet, but checked out the covers and no, Notte boys....:(

haha. well at the end of the third book, she realized Oswald wasn't for her. I didn't like him either. I was really hoping for her to get with Ian too. The author left it hanging at the end, but at this point, it looks like her and Oswald are over. In the first book, she kinda has low self esteem but by the end of the third book, it seems like she realizes she's worth more, and she realizes Oswald doesn't deserve her.

Hmm... I listened to the Twilight series and the C. Feehan carpathian vampire series and one called Turbulant Seas. All were pretty good, but yes, a lot depends on the reader. Another is D.Koontz Darkest Evening of the Year and Odd Thomas series. The reader is easy to listen to.

I love her books, the romance was awesome and there was a lot of action. Unlike other series books the character in the first book wouldnt really show up in the other books but with her books she was able to combine all of them. I love all of her books and i dont think there going to dissapoint you.
