i can honestly say i spend a majority of this book not knowing what the hell was going on. i didn't realize it'd be so hard to understand english authors.

this is my second time reading just because i decided to continue with the series. aside from the cheesy book titles & even cheesier coverwork it's a pretty good book. it's common to find a vampire series but it usually doesn't have fairies, pixies, weres, etc. i'd consider this my guilty pleasure.

i loved, loved this book. it's a book about magic, love & family. definitely the adult fairy tale it promises to be.

a pretty good look into what someone goes through with alzheimer's. even though it's fiction it might help some understand a little better.

the ending was pretty disappointing for such an amazing book otherwise.

i wasn't sure if i liked this book in the beginning but i had some time to myself so i gave it a shot. the story is through the eyes of a seven year old girl. i think it would've been better if the writing style was more simple to reflect that. more or less, the story is about the girl & her brother (older, nine years old) & their life as shut-ins. their mother taught them that the outside world is contaminated & that they would catch the plague. they ate very little because she felt that slowed down the body's reaction to germs. without giving away the rest, they eventually end up outside their home & have no concept of what it's really like.
