Can't stop reading. I enjoy reading classics, children's literature and novels that were adapted by Hollywood in the 40s and 50s. I especially like the novels of... more »

    Hi atleast,

I like your profile and shelf. I like that you are into classic movies and the books that helped to launch those scripts. Are there some favorites that you have? Also, I like that you are reading books that have been award winners. Where did you find those lists? Let's be friends.

Oh so do ; if I'd had the space I'd have put up the shot of Grant and Hepburn toppling the sofa over instead..

No, I haven't been able to watch "Little Dorrit" because of other engagements, but Dixie has been, and she thought it was wonderful. I think we must read it at AA.

We miss you at AA, Heloise. I see you're reading "Queen Lucia" -- one of my favourites! We just finished reading "Mapp and Lucia" at AA. I hope you'll come back amongst us again.

Hi, I looked up "Hitty" by Rachel Field, and the page it took me to said you had it on your shelf. I was surprised to see that a lot of people had read it because I thought it was one of the more "obscure" books. What did you think of it?

I'm all about pumpkin cannibalism. Sadly, I have no time to carve my pumpkins, so I'll remember this for next year.

    Hi,

No, I haven't read the Anne of Green Gables prequel. Have you, and, if so, what did you think of it? I wonder how close the writing style is to that of L. M. Montgomery?

I recorded Saratoga Trunk when it was on Turner Classic Movies, but I haven't watched it yet. I have a crush on Gary Cooper so I will just suffer through it. :o)

Pollyanna gets a little TOO sweet at times, but overall it's a good book. I even cried in a few spots, which is unusual for me. The 1960 Walt Disney adaptation is faithful to the book except for a few minor changes. It might be boring to you if you have seen the film often. I noticed that you have Saratoga Trunk as a favorite. I'm in the middle of reading it now. I think it's going to be a favorite for me also. I adore Edna Ferber. I read So Big in August and I'm looking forward to reading Giant.

How do like 'An American Tragedy' so far, Heloise? I quite liked Sister Carrie.

Margery Sharp. I love her. We do have a lot of books in common. My favorite is The Stone of Chastity. And I can always get pulled into those old movies.

I finally got around to watching The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. I had a hectic work schedule and whenever I sat down to watch it I received unexpected company. I like it quite a bit and was surprised to see Natalie Wood.

SO pleased you are sticking with this avatar! "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" is on the Tube this weekend? I have the DVD but love to watch old movies when they are on even if I have them! Is it on TCM? (must be...)
