Idah
Idah my Idah
Land of my royal birth
The ‘Lagos' of Igala land
The cradle of Igala civilization
I hail thee.
A land embossed in favourable circumstances
By the geographic forces of history
For the proud, civilized, industrious and stubborn
I cherish thee
A tourist's delight
Where attractions ceaselessly abounds
Attractions untapped
Nature's gift to Africa
Replete with natural and supernatural resources
I'm proud of thee
A land of all possibilities
Where anything goes
How I love
To thread on thy slippery terrain
Again and again
And appreciate the beauty of thy primordial values
Values that bring back nostalgic feelings
Of good old days
I crave to experience once again
The scorching sun in thy azure sky
With the attendant heat
That transforms the fairest of skins
To Ghanaian-like, thick dark as ever
Oh! How I long
To savour the sweetness of thy natural endowments
The ‘Inachalo', grand old ‘Odogo'
The sleepy ‘Iyogbo', the recalcitrance of ‘Ega'
Idah my Idah
Just as your name implies
You will ever be the final stop
The aura you exude
The opportunities you offer
The attractions you boast of
Your trade mark peculiarities
And your enviable position
Will forever remain
NON-NEGOTIABLE!
