Should you read The Things they Carried? Absolutely. It is a series of short stories intertwined together. It has humor, horror, heart wrenching irony, comradery and compassion, guilt, etc. I can't do it justice in this little blurb because of how everything is tied together. You'll just have to read it yourself. Highly recommended.
