Hi, I was looking through your shelf and noticed that you haven't read any of Robin McKinley's work. We have fairly similar tastes, and she's my favorite author. I'd start with The Hero and the Crown, though all her books are amazing.

From what i've seen of teh trailer for the movie, it seems to bare very little relation to the book.
I read The Dark is Rising firt, only because it was the only one at the library at the time, and i wasn't then aware it was a series.
it still mede sence to me when i read the others.
i suppose, with both this series, and the Narnia serise, it is the scecond book that really introduces the main characters, and the most important plot information.
i hope you enjoy them when you get back to them, and good luck with your exams,

If you like fantasy, try The Dark is Rising, by Sussan Cooper.
it's a really good series somewhat in the vein of LOTR and harry potter, with a bit of King Arthur chucked in for good luck.
i loved it, and i'm not a huge fantasy fantasy person.

You'll like Ranger's 7 then, cos Evanlyn comes back into it! Stardust is a gorgeous fairytale. I wasn't sure about making a movie of it but it was very funny, especially all the minor characters.

Jonathan Stroud is great - Bartimaeus is so cool! Are you up to Ranger's Apprentice 7?

I see Kim C left a note for you to read the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfield. I highly recommend it as well. Uglies is definitely my favorite of the three. Pretties is good, too. Specials... is not so special, to say the least. But you should check it out anyway!

Do I want to visit NZ? Yes, more than anything, as well as those other cities I mention in my profile.

Wow, you live there? OK, I'm officially insanely jealous!!!

Yeah, I could talk ups and downs of POTC 1, 2, and 3 all day. Just let me know when you're up for an earful (just start the topic and... well, I'll take it from there, LOL.)

Deary, I am SURE I have the longest profile on Shelfari! OK, maybe not so much anymore, because I recently updated it (and am going to do so again tonight), but we'll see. LOL.

Well, talk to you later! Thanks for the note. ^^

Thanks for your note to the Dickens group. You might want to start with A Tale of Two Cities. It has lots of adventure and mystery, as well as a moving love story. Let me know what you think of it!

Yeah, Nathan wasn't my fave. His jaw was so square! And Sylar as Sylar is way too creepy to be attractive, but if you separate the actor from the character he's really not bad at all.

Isaac was lovely. So sad he died... *sniff* DL is pretty hott, no? And Hiro is adorably cute. I'm in love with Claude of course, because he's the doctor. Fantastic! :D

They should have let Neil Gaiman do the screen play for the Stardust movie.
It doesn't follow the book, or even the charachter discriptions from the book very well.
It's the classic, tragic, outcome of an amazing book turned into a weak and unfortunate movie.
If you have to see it, rent it, previews can make any movie look good.

Hahaha... Peter was the one I was thinking of too. ;)

Although once I started watching I realized that ALL the guys on there are insanely good looking. How do they do that, and why don't they leave any of them in the real world for us?

I really really hope they do something amazing with it next season to keep me watching. If I'm not totally into the first few episodes I'll probably just stop (although some of the characters are rather nice to look at - that could keep me for a little while :P).

I wish that shows like LOST and Dr Who were on different schedules so that at least when one ended I'd still have the other one to keep me happy. Now I have NOTHING for so many months. Although I guess LOST does start back before Dr Who, so that's somewhat good.

Oh, I'm so jealous that you still have new Who to watch. I've seen the whole third season so now I'm just waiting in agony until the Christmas special. And then I get to wait in agony AGAIN until it comes back for real in the spring. *sigh* Life is so cruel, sometimes.

I did watch Heroes, and I really enjoyed it but I thought the finale was a bit of a letdown. Maybe it'll redeem itself next season, but I'm not waiting as eagerly as I am for LOST or Dr Who.

Hi, my name is Brenda and I'm new to Shelfari. I ran across your screen name and was just wondering out of curiosity -- is there a special symbolism behind your name: Arrowsong? I am quite intrigued with both arrows and songs (I once was in a band named Arrow), and thought maybe I could learn more about their possible connection (in a natural or spiritual way) through your insight. Thanks for your great shelf !! I have found several books I'd like to read while perusing here. :-)

Why thank you! Dr Who is my fave. And LOST is great as well, although my excitement for it has gone down a bit since it's not going to be on again until February. :( (Once it comes back on though, I'll be totally obsessed again.)

I'd love to be friends with you, and your profile pic is pretty awesome too. :)
