Another fun view into the world of Alera. Jim Butcher does a great job of maintaining parallel story lines and building the tension in his Roman esque world of Alera. Now all the races of this world appear in this book building to the final epic of the story.

I think most of the surprises are gone from the series exept Jim's ability to bring along the reader to see the characters do the impossible. Characters are burdened with more impossible tasks. Life seems to get harder for everyone. If you enjoy characters that can do the impossible, move heaven and earth, fire and water, and walk around like their men or women of steel. This is another great entry in the series.

My one complaint is this felt too short and I have to wait another year for the next/final book with the biggest payoff in this series. I love Jim Butcher's Dresden books, but this series and this book continues to prove he can also deliver High Fantasy as good as the greats.
