My love affair with books started when I worked as a student librarian at the Humanities Section of the University of Santo Tomas Main Library during my college years. You can just imagine how thrilled I was to be browsing several books a day- books on Ethics, Philosophy, Psychology, Literature, Fiction and Non-fiction books. It was there... more »

Hi Arlene ... How are you? I'm really pleased to see you back here, and I hope you're well. I've been away from Shelfari for a while too, largely because I got married last October and have been busy with a new life that includes a beautiful wife and two step-children! I haven't had much time to read, and even less to log what I've been reading on Shelfari. I've just had the whole of August away from work, and I've been relaxing, catching up with things, and reading a lot. I notice now how much I miss it when I don't read, and I'm planning to read much more over the next year. Mx

Oh, im so sorry to hear your books were all damaged! But im glad you are safe. Many of my ofcmates there in Manila also suffered a lot due to the flood. Here is an article that might help you. All isnt lost since you have learned so much from those books... Good luck to re-building your library!

Hi there! its ok. Im doing fine. I had my 40 book challenge for 2009, so far ive read 3 of it this month and im on my 4th book. I finished A year In Provence by P. Mayle, then The Thirteenth Tale by D. Setterfield and Perfume by P. Suskind..the 3 books were all very good! Ive enjoyed it very much.
Im reading Divine Justice by DAvid Baldacci now, almost done. I shift to other genre looking for a fast pace action packed story, also i like Baldacci since his settings are in DC and Virginia..places familair to me since ive visited it.
What are you reading? Are you still working at UST?

    Hi Arlene,
Wishing you a happy Merry Christmas.
    From warm Spain,
    your friend,
    Elisabeth

    I 'd like to

    create these days,

    a huge Christmastree

    very special

and I'd put on it instead of gifts

    the names

of all my friends. Those very close to me

and you, Diana so far away. My forever friends and

    you always.

I meet with some every day but you, I miss you

    so so much.

Someone I always remember and I forgot a few from time to time.

The reliable and the absent-minded. Friends of happy times

and other of rough times. Those never again will I hurt

and those that I have been hurt sometimes. Those I got to know deeply

and those that I've just met once and judge by

    appearance.

Those who owed me something and those that I owe them a lot.

The humble friends and the VIP friends.

That's the reason I name all of them, every friend in my whole life

You, who will get this message and they who never get it.

A tree with deep roots because your names will never be unroot out.

A tree which will blossom next year for you all, with happiness, health, love and peace.

I wish I could have gone to you so that I could have shared my hearfelt wishes of hope, generousity,

    cheerfulness,

    warm-hearted thoughts

    of joy for everybody who

    has lost everything.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
