Hello Arlene! Kumosta? I just got home from Manila. I was able to buy The Long Goodbye by Raymond Chandler there at Bookay Ukay Store. have you visited this store at UP Village? They got some good titles there. I had a nice time browsing and was able to pick up some of the books in my wish list.

    Hi Arlene,
I have just visited your blog with awesome photos of your garden. I truly loved your wild garden in Patar. You know, the cactus-bug bite my daughter Teresa and now she has got twelve different cacti. The one in blossom in your website is so beautiful!! You must be very busy gardening, watering and caring your plants and flowers. Do you speak to them like my mom does?
Big thanks for your lovely note and for giving me your blog address, I will visit again very soon.

    hi arlene!

There will be an informal discussion (but with powerpoint presentation courtesy of sumthinblue) of "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova, on 13 September 2008, Saturday. Time will probably depend on when everyone has finished browsing at the Manila International Bookfair, but venue will be Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf - MOA (by request).

... kwentuhan lang. fave book kasi namin nila sumthinblue and cecille ngayon itong book na ito. details at http://www.shelfari.com/groups/12439/discussions/65122/(unofficial)-book-discussion-in-September

    Hi Arlene,
I thought you were on holiday since you always answer quickly. A million thanks for your lovely note and your wishes for my mother, hearthly appreciated!
Oh, you've added a great deal of wonderful reviews... I loved "Summer of'42" movie !! it's my teen years' all-time favourite! I put the novel in my wishlist immediately... oh, what sweet memories of coming of age in my country. We had a dictatorship and censors cut 'bawdy' or sexual explicit scenes in movies like that and all us teenagers grew up only with maudly fairy tales about romance and sex. Anyway, I watched the whole movie years later during our young democracy, and I could enjoy this tender love affair.
Please keep in touch and write me whenever you want.

Stopping by to say hello, Arlene! How are you doing? Hoping everything is ok.
I'm reading a lot in English and I passed my language final exams with great marks. My daughter is very proud of me and she is helping me a great deal during the turmoil with my mom serious ill. I'm very busy taking care of her as she is in and out of the intensive care in the hospital.
    Best wishes and take care,
    Elisabeth
