I am a freelance journalist and I love books. Here I have been able to add to my shelf only a few of my books - about 10% of my entire collection so far. I intend to add all of them gradually. Although I am basically an honest person (at least I think so) I am entirely dishonest when it comes to books and I usually never return borrowed books unless the owner is particularly worked up about the tomes lent to me. Even then the books I own are really all mine except for a few - probably less than 10. The problem is: a lot of my friends believe in the same philosophy with the result that in my younger days I lost quite a few after lending them to my friends. Some of them I have bought again to restore my collection. Some I have lost forever and have not got the opportunity to buy again. These days I rarely let my friends handle any of my books in the real world. But Shelfari has given me a chance to share my collection with all my friends in this virtual world where there is no fear of any of my books getting whacked. Thank you Shelfari! « less
