Unrealistic or not my writing gives me hope. But with something like 50 000 books published a month. Yikes. It is a little discouraging.

Ja. you need to expand your verticals and your horizons both. ;P
Nah, your reading habits are as diverse as mine, it's just my library is bigger because, well, i buy tons of books and never get rid of them, only lend them out like a crazy person. Though admittedly, now that I have my Kindle, I buy less physical books and am expanding my ebooks like crazy.
the last really great book I read was Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. Excellent book. Incredibly moving.
I'm currently on Book 8 of the 10 book (actually thirteen book) Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. The best books are actually the first 3, which are small masterpieces...the others don't quite live up to those first three, but are really good, and you end up wanting/needing to read the rest just because you've invested so much in these characters...that you almost have an obligation to see it to the end.
Hope you had a good New Year. Our refrigerator broke down this morning. Thing was practically new. sigh.
I just karate chopped you. Just in case you were wondering.
