hi! My idea of a perfect day is me lying on a comfy couch with a great book in one hand, something to munch on the other and soft rock playing in the background :) Im a big time fiction fanatic but like experimenting with different genres. I love a simple narrative no matter how complicated the plot :) Looking forward to discussing books with... more »

HI, No, Il n'est pas professionnel. Il n'y a presque pas de sportifs professionnels au Sri Lanka, sauf les cricketers!
Yes, instead of bonne chance, you say "merde"!!! like "break a leg".

These days I'm reading, but am finding it very hard to occupy myself here and missing being in SL. Trying all sorts of things for distraction but it's not working and it's worse not being able to complain.... trying to keep brave face.

How do you and your husband manage to find jobs in the same place then? Yes, I agree discussions would be very heated if both were journalists.
What sort of journalism do you do? Any special areas? Where can I read what you write?

The Bridesmaid is good and so is Live Flesh. You should also look out for Rendell writing as Barbara Vine. These are really cracking literary crime novels, real masterpieces.

well, they're about a family of vampires so I guess it would be supernatural & romance + a little bit of adventure

No definite plans for summer yet.

Ma famille va bien, merci. Non, je ne viens pas en Inde cette année, mais mon frère vient parce qu'il fait partie de l'équipe de tennis pour le Commonwealth games à Delhi.

It's great that you and your husband are working in the same place. Are you both journalists? Tell me more about your work.

Yes I like crime fiction too. I am just about to embark on a re-read of my Agatha Christie novels. I also like PD James and Ruth Rendell for crime. I haven't heard of Castle, I dont think we get him over here. Ive just finished The Postman Always Rings Twicw, a very natty little hard boiled crime number - have you read it? It is really good, much better than the movies, and a very quick read.

    Hi,
Yes, that is what I used to think when I first got here, but now, museums... the sites are not as appealing.
Generally, how Parisians spend their summer is AWAY from Paris. The Parisians leave (they go to the beach, the mountains, the South, the countryside or abroad) and the city is full of tourists. Businesses slow down, everyone's on holiday.

River Sutra is lovely. What i like most are the descriptions and the cultural, natural, historical wealth of that area that the author manages to draw out.

Qu'est-ce que tu fais à Californie? Tu travailles? et ton mari aussi?

Thanks for the tip re the alphabet murders - I know what you mean - just so-so I guess. I might get a couple second hand just to try them. I prefer something a bit more meaty I think! I am currently reading a Stephen King - Just After Sunset, it is ok. I try to vary what I read so next in the pile is a Nora Roberts, Anita Shreve, Jean Plaidy and Elizabeth Bowen. I also try to incorporat a re-read, s for this I have got The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood. Should keep be quiet for a week or two - at least that's wha my hubby wishes! What is in your to read pile?

Thanks for requesting me as a friend! I am only adding books like a maniac because I have so many to add and it takes me ages, so I am doing them as 'job lots'! do like a wide range of books, but have not yet read the Alphabet Murder books, and note that you have some on your shelf. Would you recomend them?

Hi Archana, I'm stuck in Paris this summer and wondering how to entertain myself!
I see that youa re in California now? More work?

I'm reading "River Sutra" right now and am fascinated by the Gita Mehta's descriptions of the scenery.
