I'm 38 teaching English literature which is no more English after the proliferation of 20th century theory. I've been a reading addict since school days. If I'm not getting my kids do their homework, dining / walking out with friends or telling my wife that she's again looking great, I'm reading.
I'm nuts about fiction but my recent love, literary theory, has overtaken that. Doing my doctoral thesis, I've had hell of a good time reading many books on feminism and postcolonialism, and sniffing around book shops for any thing new.
I believe that getting late is better than being in hurry, for "a man in haste is not civilised." I value human relationships more than material possessions. E.M. Forster's idea of the "developed / underdeveloped heart' haunts me all the time. We just need developing our "hearts" a little and slicing off our "mind" a little to make this world a livable place---a site for global togetherness.
My areas of interest are Feminist theory and writings, literary theory and fiction ( mostly only classics) and autobiography studies. I've no patience for hack- writings, horror stories and sensational literature.
I'd love to read anything new coming my way.
