Julie's Daughters of Boston series has been absolutely wonderful. She's a very inspirational author. I love her books. Her characters in this series are very deep in their Christian standards or they have no standards.

I loved reading about SD and ND history but wasn't real thrilled in the History and stories of monostaries, monks, Benedictines' history, monasticism and the likes. Many swear words used throughout the book too. Was disappointed in this book but I did stick it out and read the whole thing.

  • His Name is Jesus: The Promise of God's Love Fulfilled
    • Rated 4 stars

Travel with Max Lucado through the life of Jesus. What a journey you'll take as you turn the pages. Start in Bethlehem at the Inn, where there was NO ROOM! You'll learn of Jesus' two natures as they intertwine each other: Human & Divine. Go with Max and Jesus as we see His life in Nazareth as a carpenter's son. Then on to His baptism and wilderness journey. Walk with His disciples as He performs the many miracles. Come to His final week on earth - as Judas, His Friend, betrays Him, The Cross, The Resurrection, Then read of His Legacy in the final pages.

  • Finding Faith in a Skeptical World
    • Rated 3 stars

For some reason my full review of this book won't post here. I'll post the first two paragraphs then you'll have to follow link to my blog for the rest of the review.

The best way to really find faith is to have an open mind and give Christ a chance. -- Over come the stumbling stone of skepticism. This is what Mr. Galaska tries to get across in his book Finding Faith...

When asked by a professor to write a essay on the question, "Does God exist?" this cause Galaska to really dig in and see for himself what the true answer was. Many things caused him to reject religion early in life (1960's & 1970's). Many influences in culture created a strong case against God. However, if a person will be aware of these influences, look at things skeptically, objectively learn about Christianity a belief in God & Christ is possible. Galaske says. This book is about what he's learned on his road from skepticism to Christianity.....

  • A Cousin's Promise
    • Rated 4 stars

I always love to read Wanda's books. She is so good. Cousin's Promise is no exception. As the story begins we see a group of Amish cousins hiring a driver to take them to Hersey Park in PA. Finding themselves in a serious accident with a semi, a fun time turns into a nightmare. Some in the group are killed, others have major injuries and still others come away with minor injuries. Several of the group are promised to be married, this being their last big single fling. Will they find themselves able to keep their promise to be married or will their injuries keep them from fulfilling their promise. Some friends and family offer love and encouragement; others are more pessimistic about things. Will the dark times turn into better times?

Loraine had already been faced with one broken promise to Jake Beechy. Will Wayne keep his end of the promise? She is determined to keep her end of the promise no matter what. Will they be able to Trust in the Lord and let Him take care of things--commit their future to God. It is so hard to do good to others when they are mistreating you.

  • The Bouncing Boy: A Modern Day Fairy Tale for Kids 1-100 Years Old
    • Rated 3 stars

Jack was laughed at by many - he was teased and called names. From his birth he was a BIG boy, BIG baby, BIG toddler, BIG boy & BIG teenager. Jack was blamed for all the problems in town. After the death of his parents Jack didn't take care of himself so the towns people banished him to the woods outside of town. He lived a lonely life. One day however, a problem arose in town. Everyone started sprouting flowers in place of hair--even bald heads. Problem was the flowers stunk. Before long the whole town stunk. There was one man that was able to overcome the sad situation. He was as frail and old as the bouncing boy was as big and round. They made for a mighty sight to see. The boy bounced rhythmically up & down as the man hobbled from side to side. They set out to find a way to save the town from the horrible smell. Along the way they had to overcome many obstacles. What a rescue team they were. They were an unlikely duo, but they were racing against time. The remedy was found in plenty in the woods that the boy lived in just outside of town. I'll leave you to read the rest of the story. To find out if they duo was able to save the town.
