Well, technically they run in order: things hidden.., deceit, desire..., then violence. as far as his progression of theory stands. But, they really can be read each standing alone. I read pieces and parts of things hidden and violence, (they were for a master's crit. class) and read deceit/desire completely and found his triangle theory quite interesting as it builds onto itself.

Hey Apokalypsis (a.k.a Shelfari person that I've briefly been in contact with before (my social networking skills leave much room for improvement)),

As part of book nerdism I try to write them as well as read them. I've just posted an online draft of my latest project and there's a chance you might find it (or parts of it) enjoyable. It's sci-fi, and my brief synopsis is:

Neurological computer implants, sociopathic artificial intelligence programs, gene altering performance enhancement drugs, and the future of video games.

Stop by and check it out if you have a couple seconds. It ain't War and Peace, there's a bunch of words that form themselves into a story.

If you like it please pass the link on to anyone else you know who might enjoy it.

    Thanks,

Happy New Year! To be honest, I haven't read "The Historian" yet...but I have seen dicey reviews on Shelfari and elsewhere. On the other hand, I loved "Dracula". It's a definite must read!!! I'm still going to pick up Kostova's book in the next few months and give it a go :)*

I noticed your note for ToqueHead about China Mieville. I agree on Perdido Street Station, but I would also recommend King Rat, if you like stories that are twists on old familiar themes.

Hey, the best China Mieville to start out with is Perdido Street Station. It's the first in the Bas Lag universe. He creates intensely detailed urban fantasy landscapes... Zen Question of the Day: Is a Book Oriented social networking site more or less geeky than MySpace...?

Ohh... LOVE the Blackadder avatar. Classic. Cooler than a pimple on the face of an arctic warthog.

Hey, you've put together a great shelf so far! If you lived closer you might even be in great danger of my asking to borrow a couple of those ;-) Thanks for checking out Shelfari, and please do use that Feedback link if you have any epiphany-style ideas for us, or run into some lingering bugs. Ciao!
