The first memory of books goes back when the only birthday gift i got from my parents were books. I still treasure them, along with the small gift notes that accompanied them. The books have turned yellow... and they have made their way to my daughter's shelf now... but somewhere those books are the building blocks of my childhood.

The first memory of books goes back when the only birthday gift i got from my parents were books. I still treasure them, along with the small gift notes that accompanied them. The books have turned yellow... and they have made their way to my daughter's shelf now... but somewhere those books are the building blocks of my childhood.
While planning the home, the first item that comes to the mind is -- where should the book case be placed. And the vast collection remains well-looked after by the cleaner back home.
Every year, we manage to bring some of our books and while shifting homes/countries, that takes a bulk of the cargo.
Still books are the first love... the smell of old books, the different smell of new books... and the impact they create on the imagination...the expression in the eyes of my daughter when i used to read to her at bedtime still drives me to buy her more books. and i think it has created an impact on her, since she cannot sleep without a book. « less
