    Hey Anne,

    How goes it?

Just started school this week and the body is exhausted but the mind is racing – overall it feels terrific to be back in the classroom.

This summer my latest book was released – “Roam Italy: A Teacher and His Students Take the Ultimate Class Trip.” The book’s website is www.theclassroombook.com if you wanted to check things out.

Possible tornado warnings in NJ this weekend so I best head for cover…

Does it count if I get my book count up by adding kids books? I feel good about having more trophies on my shelf until I realize most of them are below a 3rd grade reading level. Is there a "Because you liked ___ you should read ___" section on here?

I am slowly adding books to my shelf. I feel as if they are little trophies to display and brag about having read.

I'm looking for some "grown up" books to read. I am getting a little down on YA books at the moment. Any suggestions? Can't wait to see you tomorrow!

I saw you liked the roller derby book. I might have to check it out one of these days. My reading has kinda gotten on hold lately and I'm not really happy about it. Hopefully my life will get back to a set pattern and I'll be able to just chill out and pick up my books again soon. I'm looking forward to watching "Life" on Tuesday.

Wow, teacher and derby dame? I keep wanting to watch, but the events are usually on nights that I can't or I only hear about it afterwards. I also enjoy Palahniuk.

You read Choke. What did you think? It was a little hard for me to handle.

Here's a link to something I just saw on one of our friend's "plans to read" list: http://www.amazon.com/Rumspringa-Be-Not-Amish/dp/0865477426/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1218082301&sr=8-1. Thought you might be interested.

Well I am glad it wasn't just me! I am about 3/4 through A Dirty Job and am really enjoying it. I am very happy you convinced me to give Moore a second try!

You know what is really driving me crazy? When you go to a person's shelf and you see books you have in common but they're not listed as being in common because they've selected a different edition or cover. I was just on a person's shelf to make a recommendation and it said we only had 8 books in common but we really had 11 after I looked through her books. So frustrating! This must be fixed. Aren't you part of a committee or something?

Maus is good. Its two books, and I read the first in barely two hours. Despite the subject matter its fun since its done comic book style. The Jews are drawn as mice, the Nazis as cats, the "good" Germans as pigs, and the Allies as dogs. I think it would interest your students when you're studying the lives of Jews during the Holocaust. I totally recommend it.

A couple of months ago you recommended that I check out Christopher Moore. I finally got close enough to the bottom of my to read stack that I freaked out and went on a bookstore run. I picked up the Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove since the store I went to didn't have Dirty Job and Lamb just didn't sound appealing to me. I wasn't blown away so I am coming back to ask if I just started out with the wrong book... Do I need to bite the proverbial bullet and read Lamb?
I would appreciate your feedback! Thanks!

He does. It hangs in our bathroom along with a HUGE black and white of Audrey Hepburn.

How are you? I have been thinking about you lately.

Does it bother you that the notes don't have a date on them? Today Sophie and I went to the pool and I am toast. SPF 70 my butt...

I just added "Thirteen" to my shelf. Its strange that I forgot about it. Its also strange that on the Shelfari search they don't have an edition with the actual cover and it comes up as an unknown ISBN. I have it sitting on top of my shelf at home right underneath the photo of me at the Louvre (ISBN #0-8193-0807-2). This is how old we are: inside is written "For R.J., Merry Christmas 1981! Much love, Uncle C.T. and Aunt Jane." Wow.
