Hi Zazie,I've been reading 'The Zahir' by Paulo Coelho. It feels like a short story stretched out into a novel. Been delving into 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu. My book club is starting 'The Daughter of Time' by Josephine Tey. Thanks for checking in. =)Happy reading,R
It's actually old from the early 90's but well written and not just procedures but also deals with Slider, the detective as a person. Funny I've also planned on rereading Jane Austen.
Oops I think it's really Zadie Smith not Zazie Black. oh well senior moment. I read that RP retired from writing in 2000. Winter Solstice was her last.Right now I'm reading "Orchestrated Death" by Cynthia Harrod_Eagles. It's the first book in a series about a London detective. Great character study, you really root for him as a person.
Hi Zazie, I like your name. Are you familiar with the author Zazie Black who wrote "On Beauty" ? I haven't read any of his but I've picked them up to look at a few times. Is Rosamunde Pilcher still alive???mamaedu
I adored Shell Seekers and actually all of Rosamunde Pilcher's books. Just wish there were more. Is Robin Pilcher any relation to her?
Hey Zazie, sorry to hear that Hosseini's book was gloomy! I would recommend: 'The Ladie's Detective Agency' series by Smith. It's fun and sweet. My last read was 'Peony in Love', worth one read.Happy reading,R

I'm not that busy reading, although I am stilloff work at the moment as my back recovers and have a bit more time for it. Its just that I keep remembering books I have enjoyed in the past. By the way do you know Flore Descieux who wrote 'The Light of the Koran'? She came to SY at the same time as me yet I cannot put a face to the name.
