Solanin

“Solanin is a wonderful manga. It has a pretty solid story under it's feet, and alright characters, funny moments, and some downright beautiful expressive art, but what really makes it so great is how realistic it is. I'm not an adult, but I could relate to 98% of what happened in this manga. It's a fresh and welcomed departure from the magic, romance, and action stuff that's popular nowadays. Solanin makes me happy I even read manga.”

“I read it for class. It was quite nice, lots of drama near the end. Even if you know the story (and I'm sure you do, from movies, modern adaptations, and even references) it's still good to read the original.”

D. Gray-Man, Volume 1

“Ugh. One of the most unremarkable shonen series I have ever read, and that's saying something. Take Fullmetal Alchemist, throw in some Tim Burton influenced Victorian England, add gore, and you have D.Gray-man. I will not be reading any more.”

Shakugan No Shana, Vol.1

“Hmm...Shakugan no Shana. Everyone loves these novels. Why? Characters...nothing special. Shana was even borderline annoying. Story and action were probably the weakest part of the book, and this was supposed to be the focus of the story. Uninteresting, ugly art, stupid characters, and a bunch of wierd terminology and weapon names thrown at us with no explanation at all. This is supposed to be a fighting series? Just no. Let's just say it was very disappointing. I wish I could have my money back. There is no romance by the way.”
