I love to read. I am all over the spectrum when it comes to interests. My profession is Nursing, so I enjoy Health, Medicine and continuing my education in this area. For relaxation, I enjoy a good thriller or suspense book. I also enjoy reference books, learning about people and the cultures of the world.
In summary, I usually will read... more »

Very gut-wrenching story; Hard to read at times; Disturbing subject matter; However stories like these need to be told; It demystifies the inner workings of a child molester; Puts a human face on him and gives the reader insight as to how the pedophile is able to manipulate and deceive everyone around him.

I loved this book. It is a very graphic, sometimes gruesome description of a young man's ordeal on a lifeboat with a 450 lb tiger. I had nightmares, cried, laughed, as well as clung to hope just as the main character Piscine Patel did. It is an overwhelming tale of faith, survival, and an unsinkable human spirit.

Having just read Emma and Me, I had to start this book so that I could see what became of Carrie and her mother. This book, in my opinion, is better than Emma and Me. I DID have a hard time believing that Carrie had never heard of a computer before, it was almost as if she came from another century, the way the author made her out to be about technological advances. But other than that part, I loved the Chaplin family, and Mr. Burdock. I didn't see the ending coming in this one either. Both books had a definite twist at the end. I would recommend these books to people who think that life is hard for them, this book willl show you just how hard life can truly be, and it will make us count our blessings. I am curious to know if there will be a third book.

I never finished this book. I tried, but it just dragged on. I gave up right around the start of Golden's affair with Hula. Maybe I will pick it up again later and try to finish it, but there are many other books that I am far more interested in reading at the moment.

  • John Wayne Gacy

I read this book in less than 24hours. It is the disturbing events of serial murder committed at the hands of John Gacy as told from the view of his defense attorneys. Lots of constitutional talk and defense attorney legalese, but otherwise an intriguing book. I was 11 years old when the news broke about John Gacy's depraved crawlspace, and I will never forget it. Gacy was truly evil.

I love all things Augusten Burroughs, but this is not my favorite of his works. I liked the homeless story, with Shirley, and I liked the last story with Dennis, but the others, didn't register much emotion on my Burroughs scale. It is a quick read however, and I finished it in less than 12 hours. I am used to Augusten making me laugh so hard I nearly pee my pants.. and I just didn't get that from this book. But I still love him and his stories, nevertheless.

This book is a cute story, of Felix Funicello, a 5th grader St. Aloysius Gonzaga parochial school, in New London, Connecticut. The story is humorous, nostalgic and light-hearted. I finished this book in one day, and I was not disappointed in Wally Lamb. It's a sweeter, lighter Wally Lamb.. and I like it.
