Sorry! I've been away for a while. I've been slammed with work and am now suffering from a major case of burnout. I'm actually trying NOT to do anything with books for a while, lest I start burning them (just kidding...)

For the first time in my life, I'm not going to do ANYTHING. I'm just trying on life for a while to see how it fits....more »

This is one of the BEST debut novels I've ever read. You'll find hints of Steinbeck with a touch of Zora Neale Hurston. All in all, though, James Robinson has a unique fiction voice for "smart" readers. If you're looking for something light and fluffy, this is not the book for you. It's deep and wide and goes great with a fireplace and a glass of merlot.

I have mixed feelings about this book.

    The subject:

interesting but worn out. It's merely the Prosperity-Name-It-and-Claim-It message repackaged to make it look very DaVinci Code. It's sad to see so many people act like sheep going to slaughter over the marketing of this book.

    The writing:

very good, but not up to par with other books of its genre.

    The bottom line:

it's a nice, pretty pink and blue message, isn't it? Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy? But it's still a book that promotes and glorifies the "ME ME ME" attitude that makes us so ugly.

I'm not a religious zealot but this book encourages people to practice the law of attraction and thus use the power of positive thinking and speaking in order to upwardly mobilize SELF; when the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts should be acceptable to GOD.

No writer should be allowed to hold a pen without first reading this book and committing it to a place of honor on his or her desk.

A lot of people don't like this book. I loved every word of it. His characters had such depth and I loved every one of them. And the old West theme really tickled my fancy. Not a lot of books written like this anymore, and that's very sad.

I don't care for a lot of King books, and i rarely buy them or read them...but THIS little jewel! I read and REread this baby. And I recommend it to every writer I meet, talk about it in every class I teach, and give it away more than any other book I've ever read.

It's a masterpiece of instruction (and King is one helluva funny guy in this book).

Keats was my first true love. No one will ever be able to replace him.

Aside from being a well-written book with two lovely stories in it, God's Mirror is one of the most beautifully CRAFTED books I've ever seen. I was the managing editor on this book and when I opened the first box of books that came from the printer I nearly cried. It's breathtaking.

I like this book a lot. I'm a "Blink" decision maker. My husband and I argue about this book because he is the opposite of everything Gladwell writes about in Blink. But I tell him if someone wrote a book about how HE makes decisions, the title would be BLANK. :)

One of the most important books I've ever read. It made me look at the world though an entirely new lens.
