I'm Russell. I'm into Irish music and culture..... music in general... science... nature... mythology... religion... language... and a crap-load more that can be determined from the books I read. Though, there are books listed here that I don't identify with.

Consider this a low 3 star rating. It's fairly crappy and cryptic coming from the Theosophists... relative clarity compared to them. Though it certainly does get you thinking. Much to ignore and much to consider. So its value is in the ideas it inspires.

Overall a good read. Wonderful insights on consciousness. The diverse array of disciplines he draws on require some stamina. The precision and validity of some of his points seemed to falter under sentimentality and humor during the last 100 pages or so. He dis identified with Taoist/Zen conceptions of "Self" whereas I thought they seemed to be in accord. Hofstadter's humor even reminded me of the gleeful goofy image of the Taoist sage.... mix in a little computer nerd.

Funny, a hip wit, and definitely engaging to any with psycho exes. My girlfriend and I read it together and would reminisce about our own psycho exes. I would read Grant's chapters and she would read Lisa's chapters. It was nice.

I am a vegetarian. This book tempts me back towards meat like nothing else.
