Hi BhuvanYou seem to have disappered completely.....I was hoping it was because I had a letter coming my way. But now I am starting to think that it was something I wrote in my last e-mail......I am a little worried....Hope you are wellAnnika
you can eat junk.....but not everyday. Irecommend this book to you bhuvan. you don't have to diet that's wat the book says....why don't u read it :)
Hi Bhuvan Are you alright? I can see that you haven't logget in for the last 2 months and I am getting a bit worried! Offcource you might be busy just as I have been for quite some time. Although I just returned from the Island of Tenerife and had the chance to relax for the first time in a long time. I find that school some times have been a bit owerwhelming especially during exam periods. I have also had to take to part time jobs and find it to bad that I have so little time to read and really get into a book. On my vacation I did manage to read a book of my own choice with no connection to my studies and it was really good. I would like to recommend it to you, but I can't find an english version of it......Hope that you are just busy at work and that nothing bad has happened.Annika
Hi BhuvanBest wishes for a happy new year to you too! Sorry for my absence missing reply, but my internet connection has been down. I am currently wisiting friends with children where I am spending new years ewe. So there is a lot of fun, playtime and noise. Now we are making ballonanimals and I am stealing some time on their computer to write new years greeting. So HAPPY NEW YEAR! ups, I just remembered the timedifference and that you are probably already in 2009.Annika
hahahaha....i could not agree more :)
Yep ... "its not abt the bike" is a fantastic book abt the never-ever-frikkin-give-up attitude ...
Hi BhuvanHow cool that you are a graphic designer! I initially wanted to study dietics but ended up with an education in 'product/concept development of nutrition and health', my bachelor lead me to gain an interest in packaging and marketing especially in the food and beverage area and the consumer friendliness of it. So I concluded that my knowledge was incomplete and found an interest in the Graphic area. So I wanted to apply - but it was very difficult to get acceptet.... We were 700 applicants for only room 20 students a year...... But instead I heard about the school's line: Mediaproduction and -management and got excepted. So that is what I will be doing for the next 2 years and 8 months. And yes it is sometimes hard to study all the theoretical stuff but all in all I am very happy to be a student again.Sorry, that was a long and probably boring tale from my life. But anyway.... in the future I am going to work with graphic designers as a project leader or consultant. The Danish culture is difficult to explain. When you ask a danish person what is danish the answers vary a lot. Many people mentions the danish 'smørrebrød' (open sandwiches), the little mermaid, H.C. Andersen, Danish design and soccer. To me the danish culture became clearer to me when I spent 4 months living in Thailand. Denmark is a land of green as in forests, water, fresh air, a short summer. The cold weather has a big influence in our lives the rest of the year which encourages us to stay inside with candlelight and get cosy with the family playing bordgames or eating, or alone under a blanket with a good book or the tv. We have a lot of forests, parks and beaches which is also enjoyed a lot of people interestet in sports or by families out for a walk. Right now the leaves are brown and yellow and I love to watch the trees when riding my bike to school, which is also a thing the danes are known for - bicyling a lot!It is really hard to explain your own culture!..... I have been thinking for several hours now....... I can say that we are a mixed culture which makes it hard to pinpoint what is really danish culture and not a mixed culture. When I now look around in my class of 40 people we have people from all over the world(which all speak danish): China, Spain, Czech, Russian, Iran, Polan, Thailand, Algeria, Sweden and one other country I haven't asked about, besides Denmark ofcource. We don't have a lot of traditional religious celebrations but more national and private celebrations of eating together with friends and family which often include a lot of drinking wine and beer. But as I mentioned befor I miss more spirituality in the Danes and more holistic and alternative treatments and believing in more than traditional medicine. Danes are very reserved from my point of view but resent studies shows that foreingers think of us as very welcoming and warm people.Well....... I thinks this is enough for now. My school day is over and I am soon going home on my bike enjoying the last cold sunlight of the day.Have a good weekend.Annika
Hi Bhuvan Yes, I know that I've been a bit absend lately. I had to read a lot of litterature for my studies and it was hard work! What do you want to know about Denmark and what do you already know about the country. What is your occupation?
Nope, never heard of Diwali. What are you celebrating at Diwali? Maybe you don't have a lot of vacation, but you do have a meaningfull culture and you actually celebrate something other that just not working. And I envy that! My mother is from Thailand and they too have alot of beautiful celebrations. And is miss the spirituality............. people don't generally care much for spirituality here.
Maybe some people find Calvin and Hobbes kiddish but I think they also contain some philosophical aspects. And isn't it named after a former philosopher, Hobbes?Anyway I find that it often has a critical view on the society and that makes it legitimate enough for me - I don't think that it i rubbish.About the vacation......In Denmark there are alot of small vacations and this is the "fall-vacation" - with its focus on the children and families. We also have Christmas hollidays and a "winter-vacation" in week 7. and then again at Easter. So it is wonderful to have time to catch up on some reading.
I never mentioned it but yes I am a big fan of Calvin and Hobbes too. I read it allmost every day. I now have a week of vacation and hope to get a lot of reading done. Among the books I plan to read is a lot of Paul Auster and Haruki Murakami.I hope that you will soon get time to some more heavy reading and to nourish your soul.
Hi BhuvanAre you still busy? I just finished reading Kitchen Confidential. It´s great ! I loved his straight-forewardness! So if you would like some easy reading and a good laugh - READ IT!!!I just startet my third Haruki Murakami book - it's weird and special, but I love it!Hope that you soon will get some free time to be able to relax with a book.
Hi BhuvanYes I did manage to finish 'Night train to Lisbon', but I must say that it left me with a strage feeling....... I felt that I must have missed something and I made me think that maybe sometime in the future I should read it again. Its hard to explain! But I hope that you like it when you get to it.I am currently reading 'Kitchen confidential'. Its a book written by a chef who tells a the dirty and nasty stories about what goes on it the kitchen and warns you about which food not to eat. Its hillarious! I strongly recommend it!Annika
I will be interested to read your take on the book. I could not put it down, I read it within a couple of days. Enjoy!
hi bhuvan.i cant say that the buk wil keep u hooked.actually i dont read too much into sports.n in this buk he gives every little detail of his tour de france racing.that part was a bit boring for me.u cant cal this buk is a page turner.but its a really beautiful buk n a painfully honest autobiography
Yes it is a very good book. it teaches you a lot of things
Hi Bhuvan, Sorry I didn't respond.... it was really late when I looked at your question and wanted to wait until today. I think it is both good and bad to judge whether you should read a book from looking at ones bookshelf. You could love the book eventhough you havn't read anything like it.... I personally love to try something new that I wouldn't have chosen myself. But if I should answer you only judging by you shelf I would say no. I must admit at this point I am struggling to finish the book. It is very long and maybe a bit to heavy a philosophic for my taste. It reminds me of the book `the unbearable lightness of being' by Milan Kundera, which was also simply to heavy for me.... I don't even remember if I finished it. But I have decided to finish 'Night Train to Lisbon'. Hope that you can use my answer....Annika
Definitely take the time to read "It's not about the bike". It was so inspiring to hear how he fought his battle with cancer and won. To see the love of a mother fighting right along with her son for his life. I could not put it down.
hi bhuvani simply loved the book 'It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life'.you must read it.its an inspiring book.
