    “ In The Book of Night Women Marlon James tales the story of a woman named Lilith and her tumultuous life as a slave. Set in the West Indies amidst the historic slave revolt of Tousaint L'Ouverture, Lilith joins the Night Women, a secret organization of female slaves, in hopes of fleeing her fettered life. The story, told in a slave narrative and at times, too primitive to read, is horrible yet beautiful within it's own poeticism. It's lyrical flow, graphic detail and unforgettable characters, sums up the quality of an early Tony Morrison. It is definitely a must read!
