  • The Daring Book for Girls
    • Rated 4 stars

I checked out the audio version, and found myself skipping portions. It's basically a handbook for girls to have old fashioned fun...not using ipods, video games, or computers for entertainment. However, after the 18th way to play tag, I was over it. Would probably be better in book form to just scan. I did like the random trivia it presented, just not so much about slumber party games, etc. I probably would have liked it at about 9 or 10 yrs. old.

Touching historical allegory about a boy, whose father works for Hitler, befriending a boy in a concentration camp. Everyone should take a few hours and read this book, especially around Thanksgiving.

Usually I enjoy some Southern chick-lit now and again, but this was STUPID. I couldn't finish it.

FABULOUS! Such an interesting view into a school/community and how ignorance so often lauches evil. Further proof that abstinence only curriculum doesn't work.

I finally had to see what it was all about. I did enjoy it more than I thought I would, but I'm definitely not a Twilight addict. I picked it up several times and didn't finish it...I'm glad I finally did. Looking forward to the movie.

I was very disappointed with Rachel Cohn. Gingerbread and Nick and Nora are always favorites in my classroom libary. This polot was weak and the jacket description is much more interesting than the actual story. Thumbs down. Don't pick it up.

Oprah, again, what were you thinking? This book is predictable and boring.

  • Lush
    • Rated 3 stars

Lush tells the story of a thirteen year old girl and her alcoholic father. I thought Friend did a fine job depicting the emotions a teenager would go through in this predicament. The only unresolved character to me was the mother. She does little except yoga through the entire book. Her reactions are few and not believable.

  • The Senator's Wife
    • Rated 4 stars

Basically the raw story of two marriages. One just beginning, and the other just for political show. The ending is worth reading the book.
