I thought The Road was amazing. A lot of people have written about the lack of quotation marks, but honestly, I thought it was barely noticeable. I thought it was going to be a MUCH bigger deal, but the quotes are each written on a separate line so it really isn't hard to follow at all. Other than that there are a few apostrophes missing. I thought the writing style REALLY added to the mood of the book in important ways. It really took me like one chapter total to get used to.

Other than that, I highly recommend it. It is the only book, since I was 8 years old and read Black Beauty, that has made me cry. It really makes you appreciate the life we have . . .and illustrated what love means. Please let me know if you read it!

    Hey there,

I LOVE to cook and LOVE watching cooking shows. I saw "Julie & Julia" today and I have the itch to brew something-up! I tried to get Julia Childs' cook book after I saw the flick and was told it was back ordered for weeks! Can't wait to Cook!

    Bon Appetite,
    Erin

P.S. "The Physick Book" was SOOO SLOW!! It usually takes me 3 to 4 days to read a book, It took me 2 weeks to read that because it was soooo booorrring!!! If you read it, let me know what you think. I only gave it 2 to 2.5 stars. BUMMER!!!

You gave The Time Traveler's Wife only 2 stars. What didn't you like about it? I am considering reading it, but am still on the fence, so any comments would be helpful.

    Hey Blondie...

You MUST read "Speaks The Night Bird" by Robert McCammon and then the follow-up to that... "The Queen Of Bedlam". BOTH FIVE STAR READS!!!.... Mystery, thriller and historical fiction all in one (late 1600's, early 1700's), a total roller coaster thrill ride... You may think you can put them down... GUESS AGAIN, I lost sleep, and loved EVERY Second. It would make a GREAT MOVIE!! He has a third book in the series that is due to come out late 2009 or early 2010 called, "Mister Slaughter"... CAN'T WAIT!!! My Mom read both also and agreed with me 100%!!

"Little Giant Of Auberdeen County" is EXCELLENT as well.... Both HIGHLY RECOMENDED!! Has a little witchy brewing in it... Very sweet and just plain great!

Thanks for the note, Ange! I would, indeed, recommend both books and I happen to own Love Walked In. Perhaps we can get together and swap books, eh?

    Hi Ange,

I LOVED it - - again. But it was so different from last year. Last year was totally sunny and groomed. This year was snowy, snowy, snowy!! I still loved it just as much, but my husband likes more of a groomed slope so he wasn't as happy. Honestly, I could ski there for every vacation for the rest of my life. My husband and I want to move west when we return, and I could see coming to Bozeman.

Southern California is very very different than Northern California. In fact, some of us make fun of the valley girl types that live down there :). I like San Diego a lot better than LA! I've only been to LA twice, both to go to Disneyland, so I don't have too much experience. My husband is from LA originally and hates it with a passion - too much pollution, crime, inauthenticity, etc. Rocklin is close to Lake Tahoe. It's north of Sacramento by about 30 mins. It's in the Central Valley basically. We just moved here 4 months ago so we're still getting used to it. I'm originally from San Jose, which is in the Bay Area (which is getting to crowded and VERY expensive!!) My mother-in-law lives in Wine Country (Sonoma and Napa Counties), and it's absolutely gorgeous there. Ideally I'd like to live there, but my job is here :). We go visit her once or twice a month; it's a two hour drive. Rocklin is surrounded by a lot but doesn't have much going on itself. It's got about 50,000 here, so it's smaller than any city I've lived in before.
I've love to go back to Yellowstone! I had so much fun being there, despite being a teenager and traveling with parents :) I could spend weeks there!

Yes, I got about 10 books for Christmas!! Before you gasp because of the price, I told my husband only buy used (that are rated Like New) from Amazon!! It ended up being pretty cheap. I've read Wally Lamb's other two books (I think he's only got three, right?) I didn't know he came out with a third! I'll have to go to the bookstore and check it out! I would ask if it's any good, but if you stayed up late to finish it, I have my answer! Do you like living in Montana? I drove about one mile in when we were visiting Yellowstone when I was a kid, and I don't remember much of that mile except that we stopped at a shop fashioned as an old general store and bought sodas. I've heard it's a beautiful state.

Haha, I know! One of these days I'll have time to start all the books I want to. I just finished The Blind Assassin, funny you should ask! The writing is good. It's a little bit of a mystery, too, which sister has the relationship with Alex Thomas...you'll know what I mean when you finish. Also, take note that the narrator is a bitter old woman on the brink of death. She's not an unbiased narrator. I get the feeling she gave herself too much credit and always placed blame on others, and throughout the book refuses to fully take control and responsibility for situations. She always feels like events are out of her control, but she never assumes control of her own life and then blames others for their decisions and how they affect her. Overall, I'd give the book a 4 of 5 stars. The mystery of the relationship was too drawn out for me!! (I'm talking about the second-half of the book here). Let me know if you read it, and if you do, what you think of it!!!! Have you read anything noteworthy recently? Get any good books for Christmas??

My review for: Forget About It

“I would actually say it's a 3.5 star rating. The writer is witty and the book definitely made me giggle. However, when Jordan, the main character, gets amnesia for real... I didn't find it as funny anymore, and the book dragged from that point forward. The ending was a total "Pretty Woman" kind of ending, fairy tale, Lifetime Movie ending. I would have preferred Jordan to have ended up with her best buddy Todd, who was, I think, the best choice in her trifecta of flavors. All in all it was an entertaining, VERY FAST read. Cutsie, lazy, beach read with humor and romance. ”

I have her other one on my wish list. I plan on reading that one too.

Do you belong to Paperbackswap.com?? GREAT SITE.... You trade books and your shelf grows and ebbs. If you do join or check it out, come see me. My name on there if Trofeewyf. Hehehehe... You should try it, it's like getting a present in the mail once a week!

I'm liking Forget About It, so far. I had the book for about a year, and read your review so I put her other book on my shelf because of your recommendation. She's funny!

My goal is to read 100 books this year. I just started making a list. I decided to keep track of pages, because I am going to tackle Sacajawea this year, a 1500 page book. I'm going to China and Japan in April and just want to bring one book, I figure that should tied me over....

i just finished the pagan stone, the third in a new nora roberts triology, and loved it, even though the second book was horrible. i didn't bring many books to my parents with me because for my class next semester i'm reading the six novels of jane austen, so i REALLY need to work on them, but my book is a huge one with all six in there, and i can't read it in bed, so i just happened to find two other nora roberts' books so i've been working on them. i also, in my car, am listening to gregory macguire's mirror, mirror, which is not as good as wicked....it's different.........i tried to read some today, but i'm feeling ughy. i love my jane austen, but i just couldn't concentrate today.
