I read a lot of science fiction, fantasy, horror and supernatural novels and comic books. I like dark comedy and a lot of general fiction, too.

I grew up on a healthy dose of pop lit like Stephen King, Anne Rice, Michael Crichton and Peter Benchley. My uncle got me into the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings early on.
But I still was... more »

hi, i was just browsing thru your bookshelf and saw that we have a lot in common so i just thought i'd add you. i noticed that you've read The Once and Future King but haven't read The Book Of Merlyn. you should definitely check it out. it's the sequel and it's great.

Hi Allana, I've just been processing some of your book combination requests and noticed your comments about wanting the title and contributors for the 'Spawn' editions to be corrected prior to the combination occurring.

The reason I'm writing is because unfortunately that approach doesn't work with Shelfari. Shelfari doesn't actually allow us to edit the edition names directly (even if it seems to do so when there is only one edition for a book). Once the combination request is processed the individual editions will still have the same names they had before they were edited.

Therefore you can save yourself a little effort by submitting the combination request first and then simply correcting the title and contributors for the combined work afterwards.

I fear I may not have explained it very well...
anyway, thank you about caring about the quality of the Shelfari catalogue,

Hey, just browsing and I saw your bookshelf. Some good Dean Koontz. He's one of my faves and a super-cool guy as well. I actually dedicated a book of mine called RUN to him because he's been such a great guy over the years (he's friends with my dad, so I get to call him once in a while and gush about him). Anywho, cool shelf; thanks for letting me browse!

Correct. If a contributor had multiple roles, create a new contributor for each role.

I think I edited this request based on Amazon's record. If you could correct this, that would be great.

I think psuedophilosophizing and bad mouthing are too harsh on a person like Lee Smolin.Yeah he is a critique of string theory to certain extent but you are correct in saying that we wont understand very much of his arguements with little physics knowledge.
Anyway, r u reading something interesting now??

Welcome to the group based on the book 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. There is a general explanation of the group under the discussion thread Group guidelines. The books of the month (BOTM) that the group is reading are pinned to the top. I hope you will enjoy the group and perhaps join in one or more of the monthly reads. Our March books have been chosen and they are #1 is The Unfortunate Traveller by Thomas Nashe This book was first published in 1594 and can be found in the public domain. # 2 is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, #3 would be Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. We will start choosing April’s book about mid March.
