I am definately struggling with The Shack. I was not raised in church and am a baby Christian. My family only went to church on Easter Sunday, which is really worse than not going at all. It is like acknowleding the Truth and then not making the choice to live by it. I have a lot to learn and understand. I feel like I will re-read it many times. I am probably not in the best place to be reading it right now myself. What I am really interested in at this time is Get Out of That Pit by Beth Moore. That is what I need right now, I need to begin that study in earnest.

I do want to see Secret Life of Bees also. Last weekend we went to see Fireproof with Kirk Cameron, I liked it. Right now I am reading The Shack. A friend gave me a copy. I am also reading Green Dolphin Street for book club. I like Rachel McAdams, don't know much about Eric Bana. I look forward to the movie. Did you read and see Atonement? I have tried several McEwan books, he is hard to get in to, for me.

I did finish Time Travelers Wife. It was last month's book club selection. We discussed the movie and there were mixed reviews about who had been selected to play the parts. I can not remember the actors at the moment. We had 95% thumbs up for the book. One member has read it 5 times. I hope the movie is not a let down. Do you know when it is set to release?

Oh my goodness, I am sooo embarrassed! This picture is not me or my mom. I had a picture of myself and got some undesirable notes/friend requests and decided maybe I'd better put something else like other people did. So I found this picture which is from the movie The #1 Ladies Detective Agency (I don't know if it has been released yet or maybe is going to be in the UK first) so these are actually the actors who are playing Mma. Ramotswe, Mma. K & Mr. JLB Matekoni! Had no idea people would think it was me, but I just wasn't thinking. :) Yes, I do get his newsletter and would love to see him in person. The culture change here in the south is tough - I was also born & raised in So Cal and lived there for 36 years before we moved here 10 years ago. The first year was awful and I got really depressed even though we chose to move here. Anyway, things are great now - finding the right church sure helps a lot too. Are you familiar with the International House of Prayer? The main one is in Kansas City, MO, but we have one here in Knoxville that we are part of and I would highly recommend it to your friends who are moving here to at least check out. You sure gave me and my husband a great laugh about the picture - thanks!

We did get a lot of needed rain from Fay. I can not believe it is already fall. Did USC play over the weekend? Every one I talk to raves about MKD, I will let you know what I think when I get around to it. Right now I am reading Queen of Broken Hearts by Cassandra King. She also wrote Same Sweet Girls, I loved it. Very southern, close female relationships, heartbreakingly sweet. I am also reading The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James for my bookclub. I have a copy of The Thirteen Tale that I won in a drawing last October and still have not read it. I will put it on my list for this October. I am going to look into some of your suggestions too. Take care and keep me posted on what you are reading.

Just wanted to say HI!! How is central FL treating you? I have Memory Keepers Daughter on my list to read. Did you see the movie they had on Lifetime? I missed it. I usually like to read the book before I see a movie version anyway.

I don't remember how I found your page. I usually start on one of my friends shelves and then visit some of their friends shelves, and so on, and so on. I was able to leave you a note under Public Notes on the middle right had side of your page. Just type and hit send. I don't know much about this Shelfari stuff either. I know you can start your own group and invite people to join, you can add tags to your books to help you organize them, and you can add your own reviews. I look forward to seeing what you are reading, and sharing what I have read with you.

I think Lakeland is a nice place. It seems more like "Old Florida" to me. I hated having to go to Tampa or Orlando though - the traffic!! My family is in Alabama and Mississippi and I really missed the south so I am glad to be home. We traveled with my husbands job for the several years and we lived in Victorville, CA for a while too...I loved Big Bear!!
