A different take on the vampire mania...A much more mature, interesting tale of a teenage girl & her contact w/ vampires than the "Twilight" nonsense - & no Edwarts either, thank goodness.

A big, boisterous Italian family, a jerk set on vengeance, an arson investigator & the carpenter guy she falls in love w/. It takes place over Reena's first 30 or so years, but it utterly engrossing & fun.

The latest in the Sookie adventures; the fairy world finds itself in a civil world, & of course, Sookie is right in the middle of it. Much blood & carnage later, Sookie is still alive, but just barely.

I'd like to give it 3 1/2 stars

One of my favorite historical books, it tells the story of Lady Katherine Swynford & John of Gaunt's illict relationship that caused a scandal for many years but created a dynasty. Wonderful, dramatic, romantic, I need to reread this again.

The history in the book is very accurate; it was the characters & their events that had me speed reading so the book would get finished. The language drags & I didn't feel any kind of connection to any of the characters.

IMHO, this was the best Sookie (so far) in the series. New characters introduced, new situations, new plot twists...I usually get tired of series because the author tends to stretch the material too far, but my hat is off to Charlaine Harris. This series just gets more & more interesting. What great fun!!

I love how Charlaine Harris has let Sookie evolve & change over the course of this series. Sookie has doubts about her association w/ the vampires & is tired of being used, but finds herself involved w/ them at the vampire summit. This book is a bit darker than the others, but captivating & a great read.
