The Curse of Chalion is a riveting novel written by the world renowned Lois McMaster Bujold. The novel is about a man named Lupe dy Cazaril, an ex-knight who returns home to the Kingdom of Chalion, he is broken and tired, after being betrayed and spending more than a year as a galley slave in a nearby land. He is quickly assigned as a tutor and secretary to his old noble patroness’ granddaughter Iselle the Royesse (Princess) and sister to the king. While in his new position, he discovers of a curse, casted on Iselle’s ancestors long ago. The curse had been passed down through marriage and birth and had eventually been passed on to Iselle. After the discovery, Lupe dy Cazaril (also known as Cazaril) is set on a mission to lift the royal family of the curse. Cazaril doesn’t only have to lift the curse, he also has to deal with many enemies, such as Dondo, the corrupt Chancellor and his older brother, who together are slowly corrupting the governments by bribes and threats.
This book kept me hooked. The abundance of description is great and truly paints a picture in my head. I would recommend this book to both male and female readers. However, due to the complicated plot, I think it would be best t be above 14 years old to truly understand the story.

The Ruins of Gorlan- Ranger’s Apprentice 1
The Ruin of Gorlan is an incredible fictional story written by John Flanagan. This is an enchanting start to the series, leaving the reader hooked, all the way.
Will, a modest, young orphan boy living in the medieval ages, is selected to become an apprentice to the highly secretive, Ranger Corps. The Ranger Corps is a group of witty, deadly and when needed, nearly undetectable group of people trained to warn their assigned fief of any coming danger. During his training, he learns how to use a re-curve bow, with which develops and uncanny aim. But everything is put at risk when the Kalkara show up, killing the Barron of a nearby fief, along with the battle master, Sir Rodney and his own master, Ranger Halt.
This book is perfect for adventure loving boys from the aged of eight to fourteen.
