“Although my daughter never had much sleep problems, I attribute this book to the smooth bed times we've had so far. She had collic while she was awake but once she fell asleep at night, at 6 weeks, I had at least 5 to 6 hours of sleep quite reliably. Perhaps it can be attributed to good genes (I'm a good sleeper), but I do believe the little bits of tips and advice made it a smoother ride for us. I tried the Ferber method at first, but she seemed to cry more after every visit, so I incorporated some of Pantley's methods and that made it easier for all of us. I also think starting early to teach them gently how to fall asleep helps. The advice she has takes a lot of patience, time and love, but they make sense, and if you're persistent and consistent they work. And it's not just one size fit all kind of single advice (don't you wish) -- there's a ton of little ones to pick and choose from, some depending on the developmental stage your baby is at, so just pick the ones that you think may work for you. One that really worked well for our daughter is to stick to a bed time routine religiously. Good luck and I wish you sweet dreams!”
