I am currently a Librarian Assistant II at the University of Memphis Library. I am also a Grad student in the Information Science program at UTK. That means I have almost zero spare time for reading what I want to read--maybe I can squeeze some in over the breaks. I also watch waaaaaay too much tv. I've begun on a project that may take too long... more »

    Hi,
seems like we have pretty similar tastes (my shelf isn't complete, so they're more similar than they seem). So few people out there know about Thursday Next, it's always nice to come across one of them.
Anyway, I was wondering what you thought of Jodi Picoult, since you seem to have read a lot of her stuff (I guess that means you like her)? Which book should a beginner start with? I've seen her books in a lot of places, , and heard mostly nice things about them, but haven't picked any up yet.
    Thanks in advance!
(Also, you have the awesomest job in the world. I always wanted to be a librarian until I realized there's only one university over here that offers library & information science. So I settled for linguistics.)
    Regards,
    Cerisier

I love a good metaphor. The arm sounds quite unruly, I will make an offering to the bone goddess sculpture on your behalf.

Truer words have not been spoken. I seem to accrue more and more challenging books and then when a YA something crosses my path it bores me to death....
    How's the arm?

I read most of Perdido. It was so long!!! and seemed to go in circles. maybe it is suppose to be that way. Lynn kind of creeped me out. I was obsessed with pictures of scarabs for a while. I dunno if there is a steampunk group on here. A guy at the JBB told me about Perdido, but then didn't want to talk about it. Currently I'm devouring Francesca Lia Block and a graphoc novel called Blankets that is nothing short of amazing. you would love love it. I also finished Perks of Being a Wallflower. Another wonder.

Hey! I wanted to let you know that the last of the material and yarn that didn't sell at the yardsale yesterday just got packed into a woman's car who represents the Interfaith Stitchers, a local group who make things for groups like the Hole in the Wall Gang, serviceman groups, the hospital nursery and oncology units, and a whole bunch of other groups. Sorry I didn't get any material sent to you, but I just ran out of time. The cutting table, however, is still in the sewing room--actually the only flat surface in there now. It will be coming apart this week sometimes and then will be winging its way to TN, right to you. We have a neighbor who does shipping at a fiberoptic plant nearby who will help me figure out how to ship this--I know it can be done cause it was shipped to me.
