I started reading when I was four years old, and I pretty much haven't stopped since. As my mother has remarked, if there's nothing else available, I will read the toothpaste tube. I read everything except romance novels, and as long as the book is well written, I'll finish it even if I'm not thrilled by the story. I guess I'm always...more »

Thanks for the Psychic Spot Remover! Yay! I asked Clark when he was coming back and he said "why would you ask that". Why indeed. I felt it wise to just roll my eyes and move on!

Thanks for the info about hulu.com. It will come in handy when Clark insists on watching those pesky Yankee games.

Can you believe that troll?! He's fired me up...ridiculous, I know, but I just cannot let him have the last word. He loves my hat, but ignores my trusty 6-shooter...Go figure!

    *looks down*

Well, I just finished Black Swan Green and I absolutely LOVED it! Thank you so much for recommending it- Jason Taylor is a character that I will remember (and relate to, treasure and learn from) for a long time.

Hey! Do you have any more of that Psychic Spot Remover? LOL! I sure could use some.

I thought Monk was pretty good. How about you? Interesting to see Brad Garrett in such a different role. Something interrupted my viewing of Psych so I only saw about the last half. But I'm sure I can see it in reruns.

Hey! Thanks for the heads-up! There are people who think we're having a "yardsale planning meeting" tomorrow night. Think anyone will notice if I'm not there?

Mmm! Thank you, Daisy - I think the Kafka looks especially interesting, and the Grosse. (sigh) More to add to my wish list....

Yeah, those books were coordinated by a high school English teacher named Eliot Wigginton in Clayton, Georgia in the edge of the Appalachian Mountains. I had a long ago close friend (where are you now, tessa?) who had him as a teacher. Volume 7 was on mountain religious practices.

...and thanks for accepting my friend invite. happy reading! Jason

I'm thrilled that your kids are reading a lot. I fear sometimes for the generation, what with the computers and the games and the TV. The Small Boy will start to read soon enough, if everyone around him is reading and he is being read to.

There is a food-related book club somewhere in Austin, and I wish I could locate it and horn my way in. Maybe I'll have to start my own. My two favorite hobbies, food and books. Almost every book can have food in it. For instance, Miss Marple always has tea, and you could have little sandwiches, bread and butter, shortbread and cakes. I'm starting to read Lolita now, the annotated version, which I'm looking forward to. Wonder what food goes with a little seductress and a pedophile?

You are reading some wonderful books lately! I liked The Blind Assassin more than any of Atwood's other books, and I really like her books. And The Stolen Child was one of my favorites. Are your children in summer reading programs? I go to the library and it is filled with children, which I like to see.

Well, according to my older sister, I am a book snob also! LOL All because I refuse to read Dan Brown. *shudders*

LOVE that Tall Girl is gorging herself on those pickles!

I think I will trade you my husband who lives in chaos for your kids' books, toys & a stuffed bunny & pig. They would at least listen to me, right, well at least some of the time, & not put back what I've so carefully laid out for packing. Not to mention my younger sister who depends on me to make sure we've got everything we need for the house & ....Oh, I'm going to stop right here & quit complaining. Instead, I'm doing some visualization of me relaxing in the sand chair, tall, ice- cold- blender concoction in one hand, great book in other.... *sigh* I can almost feel the sun.....
