Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year with Love, Peace, and Joy!

Here in Gresham, Oregon, Mother Nature let loose with a snow mostly ad ice rain storm with high winds that lasted on and off over a week...a record snow fall here on the valley floor. Around here, it snows in the mountains but rains in the valley. We had a bit of melt today, but we still have plenty of the white stuff left for a white Christmas and maybe even a white New Years! First time that I can remember. WOW!

Hope we can make it to my sister-in-law's house for Christmas. It's a toss-up. Her place is booted up against the hills, and so is colder than our place. Travel here has been pretty much paralyzed for about a week, and is just now starting to creep forward. So, we may have to put off our celebrtion for a while. But, it will happen. Besides, it isn't when you celebrate, it's that you do celebrate and recognize what it's all about...in my humble opinion.

So, you and yours have a great one! Stay safe and healthy!

Hi! I am just starting to read Jodi Picoult, so I can't really say anything yet. ;-D I saw the movie "Plain Truth" and was surprised to find out that she wrote the book.

Did you know that Charlaine Harris wites a couple of mystery series now, including one featuring a woman who was struck by lightening and can now sense dead bodies. She uses the talent to solve murders. I read "Grave Secrets", the second novel in the series about a year ago. It wasn't too bad.

I hope that you have a wonderful, Happy Thanksgiving!

LOL! I also like fantasy. Fantagsy must be a new genre or sub-genre from the genre typo.

My favorite authors are, for historical mystery, Miriam Grace Monfredo, Anne Perry, and Victoria Thompson. Who would you recommend for modern fiction?

Hi! We are on the same group, "Book Chat", so I just dropped in to say "hi" and look at your shelf. You have a lot of great books. It loks like you like mainly modern fiction. Am I right? Just wondered.

I like mystery mainly, most subgenres except hard core and professional sleuths (although there are always exceptions to the rules). My favorte subgenres are probably historical mysteries, slipstream mysteries, and humorous mysteries. I also like science fiction and fantgasy. I am just now getting into general and historical fiction.

I fell in love with the classics when I first read Little House on the Prairie and the Avonlea series. I found that I really love the Victorian era. I know that I picked up the classics when I read Great Expectations. I loved it. Dickens is a funny author, though. He is VERY wordy (he used to be paid by the word) so if you have the patience, his stories are terrific. I also like Pride and Prejudice (Austen) and was pleasantly surprised by Frankenstein (M. Shelley). These are both great reads and quick, too. I also really liked Uncle Tom's Cabin. It was really progressive for its time period.
