“This is the first time that I've ever said this: The movie is so much better than the book! In the movie, the Dad is likeable, and he goes on unbelievable adventures. In the movie, the son resents the dad's stories and wishes he would just tell the truth. In the book, these same things are described, but you can't feel them. The son reiterates over and over how no one could help loving his dad, but I didn't feel that in the stories. There is one scene where the son gets mad that his dad won't shoot straight with him, but in the entire rest of the book, it seemed like the son really believed his Dad's stories. The book is also told in such a strange way. I really did not like this book at all. The movie is so much better.”
