If you think I would add something to the group, yes. I would like to explore the possibility, yes. Thank you.

Hi! I swear that I will check in soon. My personal computer is still being fixed so I don't have much time yet ... to even post about the books I've read.

Oh ... and I've heard plenty from various people about Cafe Libri (on Yahoo). It sounds like it's fairly well established and active (or has a solidly active core of members). I don't mind an invitation to your Shelfari version but I can't guarantee much participation. I'm stretched a little thin and have computer access problems. I'm borrowing my daughter's laptop right now and I answered via Blackberry last time ... which is a long and SLOW process!

Our group there on Yahoo is BabeCakes. It's a general reading group. We have an adjunct group here on Shelfari. It does get some activity and fairly regularly but it isn't anything like the activity we get on the Yahoo group. We also have an adjunct group on Facebook and that one is practically dead.

If you get a Shelfari friendship invitation and see that that person belongs to a ridiculous number of groups, check out their shelves and see if that person has any books in common with you. (If you don't know how to do that, just ask me. It's really easy to do.) If that person has very few to zero books in common with you, that person is potentially a serial group inviter. I try to give that person a chance first, though, by accepting the invitation. Most are very young and simply like having loads of friends and groups to belong with/in. It makes them feel good. I've also had some of the nicest conversations with some of these people. Shelfari is kind of cool that way. It takes away the age/race/etc. differences. The conversations then distilled to something between two people that simply would like to have conversations with each other.

LOL! Yes, I seem to attract serial group inviters. Thanks for thinking of me. With you, I also feel that you aren't mass inviting me.

Thanks for the kind message. Are you enjoying Shelfari? I seem to be addicted. Spend so much time here that I'm finding insufficient time to actually read books...

Yes. I've been going for the last two years, though my first year was more fun because I was able to do more. Looking forward to next year, it'll be during my birthday!

Oh ... and the text size of tag categories at the bottom of your shelves get BIGGER as you get more items with that same tag. That way, if you go look at someone's shelf (assuming they are good at tagging), you can tell from the size of the font of words under their shelves as to what they have the most of ...

You and I, for instance, have 6 books in common for the moment between our shelves: 4 LKH, 1 Piers Anthony, and Twilight.

The original group that Mia and I started is a Yahoo group called Babecakes. It started out as being a group associated with the greater PlumFiction gathering of groups but we eventually split off to become a general reading group. Mia got interested in Shelfari and talked me into joining. When I started the Shelfari Paranormal Mystery group, she agreed to be my co-administrator (much to my relief). I don't believe that lone "leaderships" in any type of group (virtual or otherwise) is good for anyone. We were then asked to be co-administrators of another group that someone else started. Eventually, it struck us that it might be worthwhile to try to do an adjunct Babecakes group here on Shelfari too. That's had mediocre success so far (compared to the amount of activity on the original Yahoo group). We also recently tried to have an adjunct Babecake Facebook group ... which has had almost NO activity at all.

As to adding you on Facebook, sure! I don't mind. What name do you go by? (You can contact me privately.)

As to Cafe Libri : Do you have book reads? I'm absolutely horrid at those ...

BTW: If you do decide to open a group here, you will automatically be asked to join the Shelfari Group Admins group. That has all sorts of great advice about Shelfari. There are also two other groups called Shelfari Questions and Shelfari Discussion that are really helpful in trying to figure out how to get around in Shelfari. Other than that, hit "help" at the upper right of your screen and it tells you a whole bunch of things. Shelfari is continously upgrading the site and how it works.

Personally speaking, I mostly joined to steal reading ideas from other people :D You can click on a person's shelf (at upper top of shelf, click on words "such and such's shelf") to see more of their shelf. You can also find out whether that person has similar reading tastes by hitting "books in common" on the lower left on the resulting shelf page. I hope I'm making sense here. When you add tags to your books, they appear as category words at the bottom of the shelf area. You can then also click on a category (author name, genre, etc.) if you are looking for something in particular.

I'll stop there for now. I'm not sure what type of advice you're looking for at the moment :)

I've read Emma, though most of my friends think this is boring, I really enjoy it; Vampire Knight, Full Metal Alchemist, Deathnote, Bleach... just to name a few. I only started reading manga seriously this year after attending Sakura-Con 2010. I didn't get to participate much with panels but was in my hotel room reading manga after manga! It was still fun!

I noticed you have manga on your bookshelf... I guess that counts as a book and I should put all the ones I've read on there. Do you read manga often? I'm currently enjoying Eden but I've only got Vol. 1... really need to get more!
