Hi and thanks for adding me. I'm currently reading Road of the Dead by Kevin Brooks. Have you heard of it? This is what its about:

On a storm-ravaged night, a 19-year-old girl is kidnapped, raped, and killed. Three days later, her two younger brothers set out in search of her murderer. Cole, 17, is a dark-eyed devil who doesn't care if he lives or dies, while Ruben, 14, is a strange child who sometimes, inexplicably, experiences sensations above and beyond his own. This is the story of the boys' journey from their half-gypsy home on a London junk lot to the ghostly moors of Devon, where they hope and fear to find the truth about their sister's death. It's a long road, cold and hard and violent. It's THE ROAD OF THE DEAD.

Its excellently written - I'm really impressed with this author and think I will look up other titles by him. What are you currently reading? I apologise for replying so late but its murder trying to log in my account sometimes as My sons fight over their turn on the PC!!

Hi there! How was your vacation - where did you go? Christmas was great - cosy. I've not heard of Another Faust, what is it about. I'm sorry you were disappointed in your last book Immortal. Books are only captivating if one can identify or emphasise with the characters in some way. If the book failed to do this for you then its understandable that you will be disappointed in it.

I've recently finished reading Keri Arthur's Damask Circle series. The first book is Circle of Fire, then Circle of Death and lastly Circle of Desire. The first two were ok epecially the second but wasn't much for the third. They are stand alone books despite being a trilogy as the characters don't intertwine.

I'm currently reading Blood Memories by Barb Hendee and am enjoying it so far. Have you read it? Here's a quick synopsis:

Life’s going well for 200 yr old vampire Eleisha until one day she receives a phone call from her friend and fellow vampire, Edward. Sounding ill and unstable, she immediately goes to his house and discovers he’s been eating dog corpses (vampires can’t consume food in this world because it’ll make them ill since their digestive system no longer works) and acting very bizarre. Eleisha is at a loss to help him and before she can stop him, he walks out into the sunlight. That’s bad enough. What makes matters worse is that he does so in front of three police officers who watch in disbelief as he bursts into flame. When you factor in the details that one of the officers is a telepath (vampires release all of their memories upon death, effectively sending a mental blast to anyone in the general vicinity and their vampire sires) and another is a psychometrist, Eleisha has a very big problem.

Eleisha flees Portland with the her aged, vampire companion, William, and seeks refuge with another vampire, Maggie. Unfortunately, the telepath and psychometrist follow her. What follows is a game of cat and mouse as Eleisha tries to elude one man who’s taken it upon himself to rid the world of vampires while trying to make the other understand what made her.

I'm halfway through the book so I will let you know if it delivers what its so far promising. Anyway take care won't you and chat soon Bye!!

Hi there, I totally agree with everything you have said regarding The Darkangel trilogy. The characters Aeriel met on her quest were all endearing. I wish the White Witch could have been redeemed in the end but she felt she had done so much evil that she was beyond redemption. You are right though about the authors imagination. She created an incredible world that if you read the trilogy in one go, you find yourself really caught up in it!

Thank you for your kind words about my parents. I truly hope that you and your family come through your rough patch too. You are right in that books really do help one to escape from everyday problems. They can give you hope sometimes too.

I am three quarters of the way into Sunshine. Honestly this is the longest time it's ever taken me to read a book. The story is great but it can be so tedious at times - you must let me know what you think when you check it out. I love the vampire Constantine - its just that he's not in the book enough.

Your book sounds intriguing - its been on my wish list for a while. Please let me know what you think of this book won't you? What is Sebastian hiding from Evie? Don't worry about giving some of the plot away.

Christmas isn't as hectic as it used to be in our house thank goodness. I'm a Muslim, but used to do the whole works - the tree and decorations, Santa Claus for the kids and the Christmas Dinner. Now the kids are grown one is 19 and one is 16 so I don't have to bother with Santa thank goodness (although if the kids had their way he would still come..!) I still like to do a big Christmas roast though but I don't miss scraping the snow spray off the windows! The forcasters are saying that we might have a white Christmas this year so fingers crossed. I do wish you a very Happy Christmas and an even Happier New Year for you and your family. Take care won't you. Bye!

Hi there! Hope you are well. I finished the Darkangel trilogy last week and ended up crying the last chapter of the third book. Pathetic I know but it was'nt the ending I expected or wanted for Aerial. To have gone through so much and then having to give up Irrylath at the end just as they'd finally connected with one another was so tragic. I would have preferred for the White Witch to have been converted by turning from evil and taking up the task of saving the world. I'm one of those people who always likes good to triumph over evil! It's such a relief to be able to discuss this book with someone else who has read it. Thank you for that. Incidently what did you think of the ending and the rest of the plot?

As for books on real life issues and family issues - to tell you the truth I try to avoid these books. They really upset and depress me and I can't shake them off after. I like to read positive books on family - you know where they are all close and sacrifice for one another. It's so rare in real life to come across these days. Thats why I love books like Anne Of Green Gables etc and books where the families are poor but rich in their love for one another. I'm an optimist I think. My parents divorced and I still haven't gotten past it I think.

Anyway enough of depressing stuff, regarding the Blue Blood books - they sound really interesting in that you say they are not your usual vampire love story kind of book. I'm intrigued! I would appreciate some of your insight into these books. I don't have them at the moment but will order them from the library in the New Year.

I'm reading Robin McKinley's Sunshine at the moment. Have you read it? It's a slightly different take on the vampire myth. It's ok so far. Sometimes it goes a bit too much into explaining and I find myself skipping a few pages. It's a bit winded I think. Both the leads - Sunshine (the heroine) and Constantine (the vampire) are interesting characters but I'm half way through the book and they have hardly interacted yet! I'm going to persevere though as I like to finish books I've started.

What are you reading at the moment? I should imagine you are busy preparing for Christmas. Are you married or have any children? I'm a mum of two boys myself. Anyway take care and chat to you soon Bye!!

Hi there, I have currently started The Darkangel trilogy. The first book is called The Darkangel, the second is A Gathering Of Gargoyles and the third is

Here is a quick review of the first book:

Aeriel is kidnapped by the darkangel, a black-winged vampire of astounding beauty and youth, and taken to his castle keep. There, she must serve his thirteen wives, wraiths whose souls he has stolen away. Aeriel knows that she must kill the darkangel before he takes his fourteenth bride and comes into full power, but she is captivated by his magnificent beauty and intrigues by the spark of goodness she sees inside him. Will Aeriel risk damning all of humanity to save the darkangel’s soul, or can she end his reign of beautiful terror before he finds his final bride? The darkangel is no ordinary vampire either. Stolen away from his parents by an evil witch when he was a child he has been enchanted into the form of a vampire. Every year he captures a young woman and makes her his bride he then feeds on her blood and steals her soul. When he has harvested fourteen souls he can return to the witch with the souls for her to consume. At that time she will then turn the darkangel into a true vampire and he will become invincible. If the enchantment can be broken before the darkangel harvests the soul of his final bride than it might be possible to save the world and possibly save the darkangel too.

I love any books with vampires, witches, werewolves, ghosts, tragic stories, and feel good books that make you smile. I like romantic books too but in small doses. Some books go abit over board with sex! What kind of books do you like?

I have not read any of the Blue Blood books by Melissa De La Cruz nor the Van Alen Legacy. Are they any good?
