Hi, Mrs. B and Grade 5. Greetings from China. I have a couple of suggestions for you: Diary of Wimpy Kid, by Greg Kinney, is extremely popular here at the International School of Tianjin. It's a sort of journal with cartoon illustrations by a sixth grade boy who has to face up to a bully. The other book is called, The Mysterious Benedict Society, by Trenton Lee Stewart. It's about four kids who are recruited to foil an evil scientist's plot and save the world. It's quite funny at times and thought provoking. It would make a great read-aloud for fourth graders and fifth graders should enjoy reading it independently. The book ends with the promise of a sequel. I hope it will come soon!
