i Reading [is] my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author s words reverberating in your head. /i Paul Auster br/ br/ i A minute lived attentively can contain a millennium; an adequate step can span the... more »

You came up to 3 stars for Coyote Wind, but you liked it enough to give him another chance? I still have that one close at hand and on the "to read" list, but I am on a run of James Doss with Charlie Moon as a Ute tribal policeman. Tony Hillerman was all used up, and Margaret Coel and Aimee and David Thurlo weren't as satisfying as Doss. Would be nice if you discover a lode of good Bowens with Du Pre I could turn to next. I miss the west and southwest.

    Hello Unfinished Woman,
I see you are reading one of my favorite books..Man's Search for Meaning. The education, experience, intelligence and perspective of the author allows for an authentic and complex analytical expression of human nature not often found in life let alone in a book!

    Hello Unfinished woman,
Thank you for all your book reviews. I wish I could be so diligent but I have to be in the right mood to write a review. I tend to be a bit bipolar in this aspect of Shelfari so I appreciate people such as yourself who give people like myself something to judge a book by, rather than just its cover. Also I hope you had a terrific Mother's Day!!!

You read the best books for that group! Are you reading "Lean on Pete"? I just finished Northline by him and liked it a lot. I'm about a third of the way through the new Pullman book. Not what I expected, but interesting. He's not a fan of organized religion.

    Hello Unfinished Women,
I added your book "Still Life" to my Plan to Read list. Inspector Gamache? Gamache is one of my family names so now I feel compelled to learn if this Inspector bears any resemblence to characters in my family tree.

You're most welcome! Wish I could be more helpful.

Just to clarify, though, Shelfari hasn't put me in any "position" - I have a deeply embedded tendency to stick my nose into things. Also, Shelfari doesn't respond often or quickly to the various support group postings. Thought having someone - even a person who blathers on like I do - is better than feeling as though your posts are never read.

How's the tab use coming along?

We should take pictures of our bookcases the way that some people take pictures of their cars!

Thanks for your message -- it was just that I read your comment about your daughter being resident in the hospital and my first thought sas that you had a seriously ill child and I got all stupid about it -- sorry!

OH! "Is resident" -- does that means she's *a* resident? A doctor? (Sorry if I'm slow on the uptake.)

I hope your daughter's residency at the hospital (which you mentioned on Anglophiles Anonymous) is because she's a nurse? Or staff? If she is resident there as a patient, I wish her a satisfactory outcome...

Yes, I've read a couple of his books recently; they are pretty good! Though he's a Minnesota writer, it almost feels exotic to me since he writes about rural and small-town MN. I'm more of a city girl.
