i Reading [is] my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author s words reverberating in your head. /i Paul Auster br/ br/ i A minute lived attentively can contain a millennium; an adequate step can span the planet. /i Chet Raymo, i The Path, A One-Mile Walk through the Universe /i br/ br/ i ...and the world is in seizure, buckled by the misfiring currents of war, of fundamentalist mania and of patriotism-gone-mad, forced to assume a shape that beggers sanity, denied all compassion. I also have an extensive collection of children s books, focused on fine illustrations. I use the library extensively, and indulge in buying those books that I will read again. Haunting new/used bookstores is one of my favorite activities.
