Abundant Athena

Hi there! I'm Athena and I'm a reader.

I prefer a book over a movie. There's certain books I definitely prefer over certain people. A book a day keeps the insanity away. Although, that motto has not worked for everyone. Writing is better for that, which I do a little bit of, too.

What more?

As if written by a 12 year old with a pension fan-fiction and to-do lists. It was much like Verday's The Hollow, containing little emotional understanding of humans or literary flow.

What an amazing pull this writer has on the reader! This tale was fantastic!

I fell in love with the characters in this story; the family dynamic! And I've always had a little fantasy of growing up in a hotel, lol. The main character reminded me of a younger me, especially her sense of humor. She sounds just like a younger me! Wow, that not Narcissistic at all! Nope. uhuh.

Being a huge fan of the Sookie Stackhouse series came with expectations; you get to know the characters over the years. In this book, Sookie seemed to have picked a prescription for Prozac. While the book was fast-paced, meaning it was stuffed with events, Sookie seemed to take everything very calmly and had a blaise attitude toward everything. I like the unstable and predictable unpredictability of the character. So, while I loved (LOVED the Sookie/Erik) romance connection in this book, it was all too much, and yet not enough.

New and different, and speaks to curious aspects of myself.

Brilliant! The judgmental anti-prom queen dishes out her sarcastic wit on life, whilst fighting forces of evil and dealing with her growing psychic powers. Think Buffy meets Mary-Janice Davidson. Don't miss the jewel over the name!

The book was all right. It just felt so beautifully nude at some points and then as nude as paint in other. Not as if there were two authors, but as if the author fell into a void.

To carry such a title, "A Swift Pure Cry", is to carry great weight. It disappoints.

Another great Shusterman read! I can always count on him to carry me away, yet ask deeper questions about society and ourselves.

I'm very surprised. I loved this book! It was a great mix of action and emotion for me. I loved the heroine. Completely atypical, but divine!

Stork created a vivid and understandable mental world similar to Aspberger's, a high-functioning autistic syndrome. He did with beauty and charisma. Not only did he write a heart-warming, but difficult story, he did "Marcelo" justice.
