Welcome to my book shelf! I've always judged a book by it's cover! Okay, maybe I don't actually "judge" it, but quite often I "choose my next book by it's cover. Can't help it. The books either attract me or they don't! I just got a... more »

this book goes real deep into hynotic therapy while questioning the souls about their travels back and forth from earth to the spirit world and the worlds in between. pretty deep. I read it several years ago & it was difficult for me to comprehend. This year when i read it i was much more open minded and therefore enjoyed it more.

Loved, Loved, Loved this book. Tori Spelling actually wrote a great book & seemed to be pretty honest about times in her life. Good, Bad & Ugly while at the same time being her funny self. She shares her relationships w/friends and family, even her not so good relationship w/her mom. She loves her mom but admits they are not a good match which in the end simply explains it all. I cried through the last few chapters. Totally a Poor Little Rich Girl story, but the way she writes it.. you really do kind of get it. You hear about her childhood, 90210 days, So NoTorious Days, Tori & Dean-Inn Love.

  • The Duggars: 20 and Counting!: Raising One of America's Largest Families--How they Do It
    • Rated 4 stars

Everytime I see this show on tv, I am amazed, but skeptical that things are as good as they make it sound. But, in the book, they admit to certain difficulties. But, they really seem to love each other and the entire famiily. All the kids are really cute. This book could be helful for people with huge families w/ multiple children. For many people, like myself, I guess it is not for me.

I can't imagine the chaos every day. But, I did like the section on organizing household things to prevent clutter. They share stories of when Jim Bob & Michelle first met and their early marriage. They also claim to be debt free. Totally amazing.

Now, their oldest son and his wife are expecting their first baby in the fall of 2009.

  • Murder by Family: The Incredible True Story of a Son's Treachery & a Father's Forgiveness
    • Rated 3 stars

Awfully sad story of a man's journey through the murder of his wife & son, only to find out the only family member he has left is his other son, who is later revealed to be the murderer! How terrible! But even before he finds out who the murderer is, he feels that God is giving him supernatural powers to 'forgive' he who killed his wife and son. The story takes you through the murders and trial. Mostly it is about God's healing and the fact that he is confident that God is on this journey with him. Parts of the book got kind of slow, but was an overall good read and my heart hurts for the author.

  • Her Last Death: A Memoir
    • Rated 4 stars

I really enjoyed this book, which detailed a distrubed mother/daughter relationship. Thed mother beig kind of crazy & with a drug addiction, the daughter Sue (author) shares her growing up stories of love & horrors. Of feeling safe & being terrified. Sometimes from one sentence to the next, I'd get confused with the writing style and I'd have to reread some paragraphs. However, this true memoir was very touching. And I enjoyed this book.
