[------ This is my 3 yr old maltese, Casper the not-so-friendly ghost sporting his new PetSmart hair-do!

Welcome to my book shelf! I've always judged a book by it's cover! Okay, maybe I don't actually "judge" it, but quite often I "choose my next book by it's cover. Can't help it. The books either attract me or they don't! I just got a... more »

Nice! I hope you like it. :-) I'm not in any kind of book swapping site like that, but then I don't have very much to send! And not being in the U.S., I don't know if that would work out very well anyway...

Welcome to Better than Starbucks! Look around, make yourself at home, start a new thread or dig up an old one or just read and jump in on the more active ones.

Thank you. I really liked how this one turned out too! And I got to put up a nice Christmassy avatar! (At least for a short time.) Well, I could have put up a different Christmassy one, but I love showing off my boys! And thanks for the picato comments. I'll have to take another look today...

I know what you mean. I am always looking for books to read and stuff. It might be 50 book challenge, I am in that one. I also do Play Book Tag. I really like shelfari. I have found more books to read than I would have and these groups have me trying new genre's. It's great.

    Hi,
Yes Wendy the Good Witch. Thanks for the note. Are you in one of the groups that I participate in or did you just see it browsing?

You've added a TON of pictures to picato! I'm not there often, but I just added a few more. And went to see if you had more there. Soon you'll have more than I do...you might already! :-) Happy New Year!!!

Hi! Thanks for the note. Christmas was nice with my parents and brother here, though it was also "eventful"! I plan to answer your email (from ages ago!) tomorrow, so I'll offer more details then.

Apparently all of Canada had a white Christmas this year, which hasn't happened since 1971 they said on the news a few days ago. I thought that was pretty cool! (But then, I like white Christmases!)

Hi Abigail, yes, they probably would or at least give you an ultimatu, We already had two and these came via the boyfriend next door (kitty world b'friend). Mum and three offspring born feral, so we also had to tame them. Cat rescue said they had to be tamed before they would take them on. Of course, the ultimate happened, onc e we tamed them, we loved them and could not give them up even though it cost us money we could ill afford. We lost one in April to a car somewhere and had to have him put down . We loved him as he was the one we would keep first off but then decided to keep them all. Now we have thje one black shorthair and he often sleeps with me, and the striped tabby female who sometimes sleeps with my daughter, when she feelks like it. Hope you have pet insurance as they can cost a lot of money if they have problems.

Hi Abigail I saw your name on Torespanda's page and thought Mmmm, a new kitty, lovely. I am now left with only 2 after at one time having 6. They can be pain and a real joy. I used to have dogs but cats are easier to maintain, I think.
I am English and live in West London.
    Have a good holiday

Saw your post on 19th wife discussion.
I love cemetaries. I like to walk in them. I know that sounds so strange but there is one behind my house and I walk in it. It is so calm and the wild life. Love cemetaries in New Orleans, Salem Mass and Paris. Also enjoyed the cemetary at Westminster Abbey in London. Arlington National Cemetary is amazing also. Normandy in France is also very neat. I try to check out cemetaries wherever I visit. My husband thinks it is so strange but I get very calm and at peace.

That wall is in my living room and it's not quite as pink-ish as it appears. It's more adobe, really. We painted it a few years ago and just love it. The room always feels warm and cozy.

I have three kids, too, 30, 26, and 23. I'm not sure how I ever got through their childhoods, but luckily for me they grew up to be lovely adults. Not a dinger in the bunch, IMHO.

My grand-dog Ella is also about a year and a half old. She belongs to my daughter and her beau. Ella is SO high energy that she wears me out when she comes to stay! She never naps. Literally. My dog just looks at her like she's crazy.

Did you see in the paper that Mrs. Duggar had her 18th child? They now have 10 boys and 8 girls! She's getting a bit old to have one every 18 months, I think!

Have you ever read Outside Valentine? It might be something you'd like from the looks of your shelf.

My avatar, which I just changed, is my grand-dog Ella. She's a LlasaCockaPoo! Her little lower jaw sticks out and she looks so funny. LOVE your pups!

I did read Red River but I didn't like it as well. I'm not sure why, because they were very similar.
