[------ This is my 3 yr old maltese, Casper the not-so-friendly ghost sporting his new PetSmart hair-do!
Welcome to my book shelf! I've always judged a book by it's cover! Okay, maybe I don't actually "judge" it, but quite often I "choose my next book by it's cover. Can't help it. The books either attract me or they don't! I just got a KINDLE for Christmas, so I don't really get good covers now. I thought that would be a problem for me, but really it is not. I love the Kindle reader!
My Companion Pets:
My Yorkie pup is 2 yr old, Abby, humble, loving, respectful, a good girl. I also have a white Maltese pup, 3 yr old, Casper The Friendly Ghost. (But he is not really a ghost and he is not particularly friendly) But he is so deliciously cute, he is just crabby most of the time. I honestly think that he believes that God created me so that Casper would have someone to take care of him and cater to all his needs. He looks at me like I am annoying him half the time. He mostly loves my Dad & my husband, which explains why I had to get Abby.
I've never had a cat, but last summer my daughter secretly rescued a little black female kitten, Kiwi who is now 8 months old and has stolen my heart. Then my daughter moved back into our house and brought another rescue kitty, the now 8 month old orange female, PunkinNoodle. I worried about having two cats and both young females getting along. But, they get along fine and enjoy each other. You can see my kitty pics at www.picato.net (search variahtee)
Books:
I read just about anything, but mostly I enjoy Memoirs, Historical Fiction & Historical Non-Fiction, Lots of Chick-Lit, True Crime, and let us not forget a good Ghost Story! I also love getting book recommendations.
Kids:
I am the mom of 3 children, all of which are teenagers/young adults. One boy & two girls, Justin, Tara and Jaime.
Since the kids are getting older, I do most of my "mommy-ing" on my pets.
Work vs. Relaxing:
I am currently taking some time off of work while I can and I have been home for almost 2 years now. I am trying to learn to be domestic, to cook (incidently not going real well) , take long baths with candles and books and basically, just learning to slow down for a while (that part is going real well). I do work at my husbands office though a day or two a week.
I love to go to bed on cold nights with a down blanket, lavender pillow spray and a good book. (heating pad too sometmes on those real cold nights here in frigid OHIO)
I am a big book-readin/bathtub/aromatherapy salts soaking kind of chick.
Anyhow, I will be uploading my favorite books as I read them and I look forward to reading other reviews and talking to those who read the same types of books. I will try to write a personal review to each book I read. Now that you have an idea of who I am, you can mix that with my book reviews and hopefully get an idea if one of my books is something you'd like to read.
I'm open to anyone's idea of a good book! I will probably be browsing your shelf & reading your book reviews for my "to-be-read" list.
I am also a member of www.paperbackswap.com. a great way to get rid of your books (if you don't have library space at your home) and great way to get your hands on new paperbacks for no cost other than shipping. Tell them AbigailChristy sent you!
