I'm 24, I have a beautiful daughter, and I love to read. Right now, I don't have a favorite genre, but I can read pretty much anything interesting enough. It's my addiction. My favorite authors at the moment are Margaret Atwood, Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Daryl Gregory, and China Mieville.

    Lindsey,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on "Devil in the White City." Your room temperature reaction is not surprising to me, given the range of reactions that I've read. It sounds like a decent book in some ways that is lacking in other ways. All in all, this one will probably stay on my "to-read" list for a while!

And...Welcome to "Best Read Aloud Books!" Glad to have leeches as part of our group!

    Peace,
    Jeff

Can you pass it along in an email? If so, cool. I'd like to see how that's done, and I'll also try to read the book. Thanks in advance for getting my book, as it always helps to keep sales moving along.

    Lindsey,
I see you're reading "Devil in the White City." It has gotten a lot of varied reactions. I am curious to hear your reaction to it.

Also, I don't know if you'd be interested, but we have a somewhat fledgling book group, "Best Read Aloud Books" to share thoughts, recommendations and reviews of books that people have read aloud with their families. We'd love to have you join us.

Hi Lindsey, Interesting that you should mention Ayn Rand. I was just talking about her with a friend, explaining that I had difficulty with her philosophical rants interfering with what could be good literature. However, I acknowledged that I hadn't read her in a very long time. Now that I have a kindle, maybe I should download Atlas Shrugged and give it another try. My friend liked her because she is a strong-minded woman and found something in common with Rand. My book traces the lives of a man and a woman, the woman gaining strength, insight, and independence while the man struggles with his search for redemption. "Where the River Splits" continues to get good reviews and is available from Amazon as well as a few bookstores in St. Louis and other websites. It’s available as an ebook and in paperback. Thanks, Jeff.

publishing has become a very sad industry run by marketing departments and editors under pressure to find the next J.K. Rowling or Stephen King. They have caught the same disease that Hollywood has: regurgitate the old, put a shiny wrapper on it and tell people its new and good.
The latest trend among new authors is to self publish and self market because you have more creative control.

I suppose you could call my books transcended dystopia. I dare to ask the great what if. what if we don't kill ourselves off and have to learn how to live with the mess we've made. Check out Black Bead
