Compulsive reader, mediocre writer, editorial assistant, aspiring motorcyclist. Urbanite 'till the bitter end. Can be won over with sushi and David Lynch films. Danielewski fanatic. Woolf-obsessed. Redhead.

I'm thinking about reading "The Strain" since I'm a fan of Del Toro's, but is he as good of a writer as he is a director?

... good on ya, I reckon you'll like that one too then. Another book I can recommend is The Lacuna, Kingsolver's latest. Excellent storytelling, highlighting a rather dark chapter of American life.

hey keep reading - and writing too! your modesty is impressive but I bet your poetry would be good for other people too.... :-0

    Hi!

    Hard to say...
I've just read Kafka on the Shore, and I really loved it...
Norwegian Wood has been my first love...
and I also loved Dance Dance Dance so much...
    :-)

    What about you?
How do you like Murakami and the Jap literature?

Hi, Liz. Help yourself to my books. And good to hear you work for Macmillan. My contacts there are Tom Doherty, Bob Gleason, and Bob's assistant, Ashley Cardiff, out of the Flat Iron Building, NYC. Very nice people, have you met them? Impending novel is inspired by a true event, story of ex priest who's driven to prove the existence of an afterlife and stumbles across the means--with totally unexpected consequences. Thanks for asking! All the best,

A quite belated welcome to the fiction effect group, A. Liz! I'm surprised by how many books we have in common in looking through your shelf, but maybe great minds merely think alike... I'm a big fan of Atwood and I'm planning to read some Danielewski soon (a friend gave me a copy of Only Revolutions recently and House of Leaves is on my to-be-read list). Hope you join in some of the discussions.

American Gods for sure. Anansi Boys is kind of a sequel to American Gods. By kind of, I mean Anansi Boys is in the same universe as American Gods but a different story. Both are great reads. Enjoy!
