I love books, dogs, travel (although I am currently in nursing school and travel is hard), I like to make jewelry and listen to all types of music. I am open to reading almost anything and don't know how I would live without bookstores and libraries

I notice that you are also reading "My Stroke of Insight." Where are you in the book? I recently saw Dr. Taylor speak at the Texas Council of Mental Health and Mental Retardation seminar. She was awesome!!! How do you like her book?

Hi! Are you all finished with school, as in graduated?! How wonderful! Are you doing lots of "enjoyment" reading?
We're getting ready to move and I've not had time to pick up a book--other than to pack it!

    Eclectic Book Club Peeps:

All righty, let's have those nominations for our next big read. What's everyone in the mood for?

Post your selections in the "Genres" thread and we'll hash it out. If that takes too much energy, I will put all genres nominated in a hat and pick one at random!

PS. Yuki -- that is SUCH an excellent doggy ipc -- makes me smile every time I see it! = D

    Yuki:

I thought one of these three books might appeal to you:

For Love of a Dog by Patricia McConnell
The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier
The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot DĂaz

None are on your shelf, but seem to be in your areas of interest. The first two are available in paperback, and any of them should be at your local library.

    Hope you have fun.

    Hi,
I was just browsing in one of the groups and came across your little picture... We just got a Westie for Christmas, he looks a lot like the one in your picture. I was wondering about the dogs coat... do you take him to the groomer or do you bathe him at home, and if you bathe him at home what kind of shampoo do you use on him. I have heard that this breed tends to get skin irritations. His coat looks so smooth, so unlike my puppy's. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Heather

Yuki! We have some excellent books in common on our shelves. I've requested friendship!
I just changed my avatar from the smiling kitty to a pic of me taken several years ago.
The smiling kitty was not my own cat, though I have four! I just used it because of that ridiculous smile! I was getting embarrassed to have to admit so often that it wasn't one of my lovely kitties that I thought it was time for a change. Read on, friend! Judith

Old book are fine with me! As long as we think they have meat enough on them to kick off a good discussion, anything will go - in my opinion at least :-) I don't know the books you suggest, but look forward to looking into them. Will you post it on the 'note to admins', when you decide on a title?

And let me know how your exams go! Break a leg!

Hi! Nice to hear from you! I bet you're looking forward to that fun reading time. We are headed today to Cortez, FL, where we'll spend the winter. But after we get the RV there, then we're heading home by car to CT for Christmas. I miss my grandchildren SO much! Cuppy has become a marvelous traveler, only complains if the trip is too long. Tell Yuki Cuppy said HI!
