No problem...I've really not been too involved on this site. I've been really busy and just too tired to do more than glance at my groups. I lead the Non-Fiction History so I try to keep up with that one but that's about all I've done.

Summer...wow, it's gone already and it was just another season. Working too hard and traveling too much. Where were you traveling to?

Okay, quick correction on the Green Rider series...first of all, author's name is spelled "Britain" and Book 4 IS the latest. I am horrified. It ended with an awful cliff hanger.

I see you've read the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobbs and loved it as I did. You should read the follow-on trilogy - The Tawny Man. It's just as good. Also, I'm currently reading the Green Rider series by Kristen Brittain...they are tremendous books; I finished book 4 today and can't wait to get my hands on book 5. The only problem is, the author hasn't written book 6 yet and I'm afraid I'm going to be hanging awhile waiting for that.

Hi, sorry for the delay in responding...I've been away where computer connection was absurdly slow and Shelfari takes a lot of power. Glad you like my book shelf...what are your preferences with regard to reading? I read so many different things that I don't exactly know what to recommend. I'll take a look at your shelf.

You've got a good point there. All classes are accessible from one set of stairs, but it's like trying to get through rush hour traffic to get to my next class. So I'm going to have to learn all the shortcuts soon ... oh well.
    I'm glad you got a Kindle; it's a great thing. :)
    Enjoy your holiday!

I'm going OK, how about you? Life has just gotten hectic - I just started school in a new school, and I've gotten lost a few times ...
Which of Georges books did you get? I've read The Memoirs of Cleopatra, and started Mary, Called Magdalene a few days ago. So far so good.

Did you ever get a Kindle, or a Nook, or some sort of ereader?

Yes, Rameses died at age 92. Medicine at that age was not as good as it is today, but WAY better then it was 500 years ago, which I always found interesting. It's as if the Romans killed civilization when they conquered Egypt.
Rome and Athens sounds really fun, but to be honest, I've never been out of country. I want to so much, but with the the recent recession ... it makes that kind of travel impossible. ):

I have a Kindle. it's a really good device; I like it a lot. Easy to read, long battery life, and the books are cheaper on the Kindle. I can take it anywhere, and it's not as big and bulky as some of the books I read! I would highly recommend getting one - it's worth it.

I actually watched an episode of "Tutankhamun - the mystery revealed". It was interesting! But the rest of my family isn't as interested in History as I am, so they patiently bear my ramblings of ancient families, politics, gods, and battle tactics. Then they tell me to be quiet ...
I don't mind though. It's a little victory when they can remember how many children Rameses the Great had (over 100, by the way).

I watched something on the Titanic a few weeks ago, something about rebuilding the bow of the Titanic using the methods of the day. I think they put it on display somewhere in Belfast. Have you seen it?

The heretic Queen is one of my favorites by Moran. Margaret George has a book, The Memoirs of Cleopatra. I highly recommend it, even if it is REALLY long.

Probably the Armana Period in Ancient Egypt. Akhenaten and Nefertiti and the like. Or the Downfall of Egypt, with Cleopatra VII and Caesar.
I'm a big geek over anything Egypt related, even modern. The recent rebellion? I have all the newspapers that covered any relevant stories about the rebellion in Egypt.

I also looked through your shelf, and I would suggest you add The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran. I saw that you had her Nefertiti ...

Aww hate it when I leave books behind! Happened to me once with Slaughterhouse Five, hence why it's still on my "to read" list :( Will let you know how I get on with The Book Thief. I see you have The Hunger Games on your list too! Really looking forward to getting my teeth into that. Hopefully before the film is completed, haha
